Already a number of schedule changes in light of today's news. Channel 4 are showing an hour long tribute at 10.35pm, pushing the normal schedule back an hour. BBC One are showing a half hour tribute at 7.30pm in place of Inside Out.

On the music channels, VH1 is showing Bowie videos non-stop from 2.30pm:

MTV Classic has been showing them from midday (their website still lists it as the pop-up channel MTV Xmas):

Not sure I'd be happy that the Inside Out Yorkshire floods special is getting postponed had I been affected. Seems to be a questionable sense of priorities, with no disrespect to Mr Bowie.

Although the BBC has form for obits above floods I guess.

Do you really think hundreds of people affected by the floods have got this in their planner? Or even any awareness of it actually being shown?

Some people don't live in the real world on here.

I agree. The floods programming tonight is basically voyeurism, it's not going to help a single affected person dry and sort their house or business out, and if I was unlucky enough to be affected, watching telly at all would be right off my radar, and the TV itself would probably be in landfill by now anyway.

They pretty much went into full obituary mode when the news broke just after 7am - and the playlists for Shaun Keaveney and Lauren Laverne shows that at least 90% of their music has been Bowie or Bowie-related.

(Conveniently, their early breakfast show comes from Salford, which meant that Chris Hawkins was available to pop into the Breakfast studio after he'd gone off air.)

I listened until about 9:30am, they did a pretty good job I thought interspersing Bowie songs with live tracks and other tracks with a Bowie connection or inspiration. They did an ad hoc "Now Playing" show where listeners contribute suggestions of tracks on a theme, and Matt Everett introduced clips from nterviews. You could tell from the tone that the presenters were deeply affected by the news.

6 Music news played in a clip of Chris Hawkins which I assumed was sourced from an interview he gave elsewhere so that has answered my question.

David Bowie: Five Years on BBC Two at 23:15.

On a side note, that MTV website is a joke. Click on an article and 5 auto-playing videos scattered throughout the page start blaring out a mishmash of sound that will destroy your ears. Worse thing is that all 5 are for Geordie Shore. Jesus wept.
