(Conveniently, their early breakfast show comes from Salford, which meant that Chris Hawkins was available to pop into the Breakfast studio after he'd gone off air.)

Shaun Keaveney and (I think) Matt Everett appeared in the news channel studio after they came off air from the breakfast show too.

They were alongside Paul Gambuchini because he is to popular music what Simon Calder is to travel...

Robert Elms from BBC Radio London was in the BBC London studio at lunchtime to discuss Bowie.

Just seen an excellent trail for Sky Arts's David Bowie tribute tomorrow on Sky1. A very quick turnaround.

Surprised they haven't mentioned his death on TV.

Just thought I'd post this for anyone interested, since it is related to today's sad news.

David's ex-wife Angie Bowie who is currently participating in the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother has decided to stay in house, "and she has been given the option to leave at any time of she changes her mind. Appropriate support will be available to Angie at any time if needed". She was told off of the cameras by her representatives.

Surely, like many obituary pieces, all but the last minute or two would have been in the can for a while now?

I wonder if the other housemates will be told, either by Angie or Big Brother. They were allowed to be told when Michael Jackson died.

Maybe Big Brother told them while Angie was being told, then Big Brother could explain the options that Angie would get.
One part of me wonders whether Angie knew about his cancer battle or not.

Paul Gambaccini is so omnipresent he was on both BBC News and Sky News at the same time this morning.

I would presume that because Angie has decided to stay in the house, Big Brother will have either told the housemates before she returned from the diary room, or Angie will have told them herself.

When Michael Jackson died, a former housemate came into the garden as part of a task and then before it ended he told one of the housemates that MJ had died.

I thought the 'BBC News' tribute as presented by Jeremy Vine demonstrated how the BBC misses an identifiable television music presenter these days. In the past these types of programmes would have fallen under the direction of the likes of Whistle Test, Later.... or even TOTP. Although a perfectly enjoyable programme it was a bit of an awkward mixture of news and Radio 6.

I would agree with this. Same with the Michael Jackson tribute its come to the face of Points of View and the Swingometer to host a Music special.

I could feel that Lauren Laverne could have hosted the tribute programme herself but I don't think they'd have her hosting a prime time BBC1 tribute. There is a blurred line between News and Music and can't see this blurred line improving should there be more high profile deaths in Music. This would've benefited being branded as a 'TOTP Tribute' from an established TOTP face but this is the BBC still stating there's no chance of it coming back and seeing no problem with its Music coverage.
