Discussion: Robert Peston and the BBC/ ITV

So he's not on gardening leave... must be working his notice as he was on BBC News yesterday.

Robert leaves the BBC at the end of the month (according to what Fritz said when they failed to do an interview on Business Live). So that leaves a month after leaving the BBC before joining ITV.

I found Eddie Mair's quip to Robert Peston on Radio 4 quite amusing today.

They were discussing the Chancellor's U-turn on Tax Credits.

Mair asked Peston 'Where has the Chancellor got all this cash from? He's not moving to ITV is he?"

On Tuesday Eddie said that Robert had been sacked for taking too much hair gel from the BBC. From the tone on PM his departure is imminent.

That's something I hadn't considered - I suspect that Radio 4, and its ability to let an interview breathe rather than primarily being short packages, must be something that people like Peston and Laura K before him will particuarly miss at ITV.

Robert Peston leaves the BBC formally today, joining ITV News on Monday (11th Jan 2016). He sent the following series of Tweets earlier.......

Oh good. It seems to me he's been in a perpetual state of leaving for half a bloody lifetime. Has BBC 3 gone yet ?
