There was a good chat between Peston and Mair on PM on Radio 4 tonight, ITV was even mentioned for a change aside Peston getting 'sacked'.

... and so it appears that his ITV 'blog' home might be on Facebook

In that Facebook post he says he'll be posting a regular blog called Peston's Politics at http://itv.com/robertpeston

If he's planning on making long-form posts on Facebook, it might be a better idea to use the new Notes feature that is more suited to blog posts and the like. https://www.facebook.com/notes

It seems strange Peston has left the BBC on such good terms, almost shrouded in glory, when you consider the likes of Susanna Reid, who also moved to ITV. Susanna literally dropped off Breakfast, whereas Robert was still onscreen for a number of months, and had a leaving party.

Susanna was leaving to do the same job, though. In many ways this is a promotion for Robert, it's not as "dirty" as Reid's move was.

An aside,

Some might say that making a fuss of Peston's departure suits the current BBC narrative in the Charter Renewal process too.

Vicky Flind, wife of Huw Edwards and editor of This Week on BBC One, has been poached by itv to edit Robert Peston's new Sunday politics show, The Times reports.

How long before Huw Edwards pushes off to itv? Only a matter of time. BBC News on the decline.

Until the BBC have a Tom Bradby of their own who pushes Huw out I think he'll remain at the BBC. He is basically their Dimbleby in waiting.
