Returns on 1 September, found this video online made by Jump, which seems to indicate the new titles for London. The BBC website also includes new logo.

Don't know what to make of it...

The awful keying around the BBC One Midlands legend and the lack of transition from video to endcap is disappointing, but it's a local trailer - at least the fonts are correct!

The promo reminds me of another...

No excuse for keying that bad in a non-linear editor or on a modern digital vision mixer - even if you are self-keying...

The East version wasn't so bad. I thought the credit sequence and trailers were produced centrally to include transitions that some regions may not have facilities for themselves?

Do we know how much of the programme is made in each region, or is it essentially sent back to "the network" (not necessarily London) to be compiled for each region?

They're all made in the region they're transmitted to.

I think all regions now are able to squeeze the credits properly, especially as now it's pretty easy to send a 'kit of parts' to the regions to use in their edit projects. The credit squeezes on the networks are done using DVE equipment installed in the transmission chain, so that text and trails can be entered dynamically (ie changed as required). The credit squeezes on Inside Out are edited onto the programmes.

Does that mean the credit squeezes will appear on iPlayer?

You'd be hard pressed to find a region without FCP, Quantel or Avid. Pretty much any design of end credit squeeze could be created in an edit for use over a pre-recorded programme. Doing it live is another matter - but there would be no need to over Inside Out. (The only limitation would be whether the editor in each region could recreate it properly)

I'd expect so - they are likely to have been added in the edit and just part of the playout. The only reason they wouldn't be on iPlayer is if a separate version was sent to iPlayer for ingest ?

Looking on the iPlayer, the credit squeezes are indeed on there but they are mainly used as part of the programme - with the presenter saying what is coming up next week and even signing off the programme through the video window. I think only the West Midlands version uses a separate CA to promote a different programme, 'World War One at Home'.

The credits background is the same on each version but the actual credits, i.e. font, alignment, size, are wildly different, some preferring to have the credits left aligned instead of centred. And here in the North West, it appears we haven't got a copy of the new style ECP yet! They're still using the previous horizontal split-screen style.

Not terribly interesting I know but it answers my question at least.

It would be dangerous to pre build the sequence in the same style as network, a late schedule change concerning the programme being trailed would cause big issues. You would also have the hassle of getting somebody to voice the thing.
