Coverage of the London Election results would seem an obvious thing for them to do tomorrow night. Preempt normal programming. However it does not look like this is going to happen!

clearly they've deemed it not important or cool enough for their 'more urban, younger audience base'.

I think you need to understand that London Live's Editor simply doesn't have time to cover "news" like the election or the Camden fire or the London Marathon. Its news team is FAR too busy in its exhaustive quest to 'exploit technology and interactivity to challenge the norm for News'.

(Presumably key editorial items like "dogs v cats' and interviewing sellers of jellied eels fall into that remit)

Is it too much to ask for a channel called London Live to cover things in London as they happen?

They'll probably have an election segment on Wake Up London for all of 3-4 mins per hour, inbetween the fashion forecast, Vanessa stumbling, The Daily Grind and a poll asking if Victoria Sponge is better than Brownies.

Meanwhile, more cutting-edge local journalism coming up on tonight's Not The One Show...

If they're not covering such things you have to ask what is the point? Isn't the 5.5 hours of news an OFCOM requirement - although the trouble is OFCOM is reactive rather than proactive so unless anyone complains they won't do a thing. Trouble is when the channel has no viewers it has nobody to complain - hopefully some bitter bid losers will be quick to get their thoughts in though.
Rijowhi, Standby and London Lite gave kudos

So hardly "London Live" then if it's covering todays news tomorrow.

All the London boroughs I know about are doing the election count during the day on Friday, so the results will be out late afternoon to mid evening.

Has it changed since 2010 then? I know the GLA counts normally start on Friday morning, yet the boroughs have counted overnight.

If it's the case that announcements will be made Friday evening, they should scrap Not the One Show for an election special.

Alex Beard is covering Power Lunch.

2010 was an unusual case because the general election and the London borough elections were on the same day, so most places counted the general election ballot papers overnight and then did the council ones the next day.

This time everyone seems to have taken the cue from 2010 and decided to do the local count in the daytime.

A dozen London Boroughs are counting overnight, with the rest from 10am on Friday according to the Standard.

So as London's local news station, London Live should be covering the London counts live. But of course they are not!!!
