Quite impressed.
Like others have said, I think there was a good pace to it and quite a nice, relaxed style to the presentation.
Opening titles, theme music and studio set are all great, but agree about the on-screen graphics being a bit of a mess. Don't like the clock either.
As for 2014, I think fine to have it feature on-screen as part of the top of the hour graphics, but does it really need to be voiced over?
Expect some tweaks over the next few days and weeks I think. But overall, a great start.

They're quite good, but do need some work. It would be nicer if they did a couple of alternative takes every morning but as most viewers might only see one a morning it doesn't really matter too much. The change of clock from #gmb to the region name is clever, though the logo in the region I saw it on wasn't as smooth.
Their effectiveness does depend on how tightly they're clipped. Presumably the national presenter stands in camera and rattles them off one after the other for the regions to record and clip up.
Central's was edited a bit loose and there was also an odd audio buzz so the difference between live national Ben and recorded local Ben was quite obvious.
Still, a nice idea
ITV London's clock had a leading 0 (unlike the main show) which didn't quite fit into the lozenge it was supposed to. The link from Ben was very loose at the top. It is something that ITV can do more easily than the BBC - as their format has far more stings for sponsorship and breaks giving you a chance to run a clean, self-contained recorded link without having to pick up off the same presenter reading live.
There's no reason I suppose why the regional intros from England and Wales can't/couldn't be played out
from Chiswick and Leeds ? Presumably those two centres fire off the 'salvos' for the opts to happen, would it be operationally any easier for them to record and play out the intros ?
I dont think the regional handover's work, and would rather it be scrapped TBH.

I was just having a chat with a female friend who's bang on target for their breakfast show being in her 30s with two children under 10.
The One Direction interview and the Andi Peters game went down well with her 6 year old and was impressed that she could leave GMB on instead of a kids channel, however she felt there was a 'news overload' with segments being repeated.
However, she finds BBC Breakfast "boring" and will dip into Sunrise, so I think that's a good start from ITV based on one member of their target audience.

Don't get me wrong, the show has got flaws. I agree that Paul O'Grady was too rushed and he really could have boosted the show if he'd been given a longer, more prominent interview. Also, the cutaways to the green room was a little too Loose Women for me.
I don't understand why they have made a bigger deal about the competitions. Surely it should have been the reverse. Also the 1D item was run far too many times, considering it was very dull (and I don't mind 1D)
The whole thing looked great though, and it has the makings to be a serious competitor to Breakfast. I just hope they stick to their guns and don't start regressing instantly as a result of Twitter comments.

Probably not in my experience. Playout/Presentation areas are usually a bit more cumbersome when handling last minute fiddly bits of video - so handing 10+ of them at short notice is probably pushing it a bit. I suspect there is also less chance of the wrong intro being played if the region in question is playing it (and checking it first).
Also ITV London were running their intro via a VR 'plasma' which wouldn't have been possible (though whether this is that important)
I wonder if GMB are clipping them up separately and sending them as files, or whether each region sits across a line-feed from the studio and records their own. I suspect the former.

I loved it. It's so fresh and I'm pleased that ITV have gone down a completely new route and it works so well.
There are of course its flaws, as many people have said in pages previous. The fluff items stand out like a sore thumb and Ranvir and Andi's pieces were just awful.
And I love Ben's intro into the regionals, but I agree that now with 4 bulletins the same intro gets very repetitive, though of course not may people will see all 4 of them. It's also a mess that the regionals have to deal with mishmashed GMB and ITV News graphics which do not fit at all, same for the weather graphics which don't go with the DOG and the clock. And also they should have the weather bug and new tickers carrying on during the regional news from a regional perspective rather than just having the DOG, clock and regional name.
Overall though, the niggles can be easily fixed and I can see this becoming my new choice of breakfast programme.

Yes and I think a good way of doing this would be to have Charlotte do the weather in addition to her hosting role.
Was Charlotte a weather presenter at some point then? Think having Laura do the weather is fine.
The issue, I guess, is that Susanna is the lead presenter and they start with a news bulletin, so they need Susanna to feature heavily in it. They can't do the headlines, all say hello an then "but first the news with Charlotte" and have their main signing disappear for a few minutes.
On the other hand - what's the reason for having Charlotte there as well? (Is it to generate a bit of tension - and give the tabs some fodder if there is any perceived rivalry...)

There clearly needs to be a much clearer definition between Susanna and Charlotte in role. Three people doing roughly the same job feels like one too many.

It just seems like a more colourful verison of tvam from day one.
