So as it looks, Susanna Reid is Lorraine's replacement?!

But Susanna's getting her own show, so will we have a Lorraine & Susanna branded shows?!

It doesn't say Susanna is getting her own show at ITV. It said that is the ultimatum she gave the BBC

It pretty much does:

"But ITV’s Director of Daytime Helen Warner was willing to do all she can to win Susanna – including giving her the chance to front her programme show away from breakfast TV."

There is no doubt the possibility of fronting her own shows has helped lure her away, but nothing has been confirmed or announced.

Exactly, so your whole point is moot, unless you actually believe one part of the story (the ultimatum) and not the other because it hasn't been "confirmed or announced".

Not really, it's pretty clear she is going to sign to host GMB/GMUK, but the reference to her having her own show is more vague. It's highly probable she has a contract which says she must host the breakfast show, plus extra hours of programming outside of the slot, without being specific on what programmes they may be.

Susanna Reid & Dan Lobb??

Some one asked Dan Lobb on his Twitter last week whether he would go back to Daybreak and the straight answer was no, and you got the feeling he was pushed out by the bosses.

I think we can take it as a certainty that Susanna is leaving, from the most recent reports in today's papers, to Lorraine's departure. There's no looking back now. It seems that Strictly was the best and worst thing that could have happened to her - certainly the allure of big money, and a lack of a commute to Salford is a big attraction, but the track history of people moving from BBC to ITV - generally, not very successful, much less so for ITV Breakfast.

I wish her all the luck in the world, but I feel quite disappointed, given she has made a lot out of her loyalty to the BBC (the BBC runs through my veins, or words to that effect) and to very loyal viewers who have supported her until now. I think she has ultimately become the victim of her own hype, and we'll have to see whether the viewers move with her. Gardening leave seems like the mostly likely outcome, especially with the newspapers being so interested and going from the example of Natasha Kaplinsky.

I think it's Louise & Bill presenting Breakast tomorrow. I don't think you need to look furher than Louise for
taking over Susanna.

As for the Thursday-Saturday presenter, I'd go for Sally Nugent. She's an excellent Breakfast presenter, and has been waiting for another big break. I knew from her North West Tonight days that she's destined for a good role, and, again, the mixture of a warm personality/professional really fits the bill. She's extremely likeable and gets on with really any presenter she's put with.

As for who would take over from Sally on sport, someone like Karthi Gnanasegaram, Katherine Downes or Katie Gornall would be great. Having said that, I really liked it when Ore presented the sport on several occasions. He seems very affable.

I don't think I've ever speculated so much!

I suppose this is what happens when pound signs cloud judgement (especially with job security). I find it unlikely that ITV's Breakfast offering will ever overtake the more established BBC Breakfast again. Even if GMTV made a complete come back (which, let's face it - ITV will never admit defeat, and do) it will struggle.

Communiting to Salford aside, I think it's a bit of a silly move by Susanna. Leaving a show with good ratings and pretty good job security. But hey, maybe she fancies a new challenge?

The way the article's been written, it screams playing the BBC and ITV off against each other - and then when she doesn't get her 'own show'... Says goodbye in a strop.

Reminds me a bit of Natasha Kaplinsky's departure from the beeb.

Spot on. It seems very short-sighted, in one word. ITV rarely create their own stars. Things just didn't seem the same after she finished on Strictly. Something had to give - but where will she be in 5-10 year's time? History will repeat itself!

"ITV rarely create their own stars" is a bit of a sweeping statement, just because a handful of people have moved over to do Daybreak.

It's notable that the BBC haven't given Susanna anything else and being stuck in Salford away from the rest of BBC News doesn't help either.

Susanna working for ITV may mean a lower rating for her, but it does mean other opportunities, presenting a prime time entertainment show like Fiona Bruce gets to do, being part of ITV News coverage of events, possible cover shifts on ITV News, not to mention a new challenge, more money and no commuting. BBC Breakfast is very stuck in a rut despite the high ratings, every programme is basically the same.

I think Susana Reid and Matt Barbett would be a good team.

Why is it that TV stars changing channels is frowned upon? In every other walk of life people are encouraged to move on Rolling Eyes

Matt presented Breakfast on weekends a few times with Susanna..

If they are going for news, then does that not mean that the whole show will be presented by one pair, Susanna and Aled (or replacement)?
