To be fair considering the target audience, if they've created something Brekkie doesn't like they're probably onto a winner.

They do look rather crap and about ten years out of date. They might get away with it if they're somewhat "ironic", but E4 continuity isn't as good as it was at the moment. It's more of an annoyance now than an asset.

Since when was a letterboard serious branding for a TV channel?

I like it - it fits in with their identity and it seems pretty well executed.

It is quite depressing I now find myself watching More4 more than E4!

I quite like that ident, but it suffers in the same way the personality '2' did - it looks naff when the Eefer is shown from the wrong side.

I like it, it is looking for the Channel 4 logo idea but in a funny way for a channel aimed more at the youth.

Two idents captured this morning. Early coverage at TV Live.

I do like how in Student Digs he is watching old E4 idents at the moment, presumably one of the 'updatable elements'?

Interesting. I think it's one to wait and see how it develops; the initial idents play it pretty safe.

From Channel 4

Quote:
E4 is proud and legally obliged to announce the return of Eefer. The little purple robot was the official face of the channel when it launched in 2001 and was an instant hit with almost everyone who worked on creating him.

Eefer is a walking, talking robo-celebrity designed to exist on air and in person. From 2001 to 2003, he starred in a series of high profile adverts for E4, which were described by Campaign magazine as being ''mostly fine". And whilst Eefer's personal appearances were less successful, it was generally agreed that when he was kept away from bright lights, alcohol and newsreaders, things went quite well.

Eefer last appeared in 2003 and is excited by the chance of a comeback.

"It's been ten years since I've been on E4 but it's still the best channel in the world!" he enthuses. "Where else can you see Friends AND Big Brother?"

An E4 spokesperson said "Critics have said we're only bringing Eefer back because of a legal dispute, but that's only half true. He's also quite cheap, so let's all just try and make this

work ok?"

Wasn't there an ident from the previous set that included an ident from the set before that?

I know what you mean... The E4 band were seen playing on the television - though I'm not sure if that was from one of their idents.
