Clearly New Day is based on those network morning shows that Zucker perfected. It is a change for CNN which always had more news oriented morning shows but it's not a bad thing necessarily.
Charles Caleb Colton once wrote that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". If that aphorism stands then CBS This Morning should be proud. I've seen a few editions of New Day and it is an imitation of CBS' offering.
Exposed brickwork? Yes.

Glass-built anchor desk? Yes.
Shelving displaying memorabilia? Yes.
Generic guitar-based music as a theme? Yes.
Images of morning commute and sunrise? Yes (though hardly unique to CBS).

What strikes me, however, is the move away from hard news and the decision to include soft items. This runs counter to CNN's traditional focus. CBS has embraced hard news and generally avoids any semblance of soft news on This Morning.
