Same rumours about Pebble Mill, completely untrue to my knowledge - there were emergency refuge areas if there was an IRA attack say, same with all BBC properties.

Does anyone have any plans/maps of TVC, including the locations of the news studios/newsroom etc that can be uploaded.

This wasn't possible before due to security, but now it should be OK.

There are still broadcast services running through the building till the end of the year, so I'd still not be comfortable putting them online.
That said, there were never really many good plans of the building - it was either a choice of the not-very-detailed one from security, showing where the fire assembly points were; or the (very restricted unless you knew where to look) AutoCAD surveyors' drawings showing every single nook and cranny.

It looks like The One Show might be live from TVC tonight in advance of the Madness gig, which will be live from the horseshoe car park. It looks like the stage has been set up to have a nice view of TC1's wall as the backdrop.

also, TVC T-shirts, anyone?

What kind of broadcast services are still running through the building?

I remember reading on here in previous years that TVC plays an important part in Eurovision having many of the feeds going through the building. Is that the case this year too? Where will all that move to?

Would it perhaps go to the Broadcast Centre/Red Bee just down the road?

Why would Eurovision go through TVC it's a 4:2:2 satellite feed from EBU each year.

For a number of years I believe the BBC provided redundant uplink/downlink services for the contest, and in the early years of in-vision voting they co-ordinated these feeds (but not sure if TVC involved in that aspect).

The ESC is distributed via multiple routes (fibre and satellite) from multiple sites still (and often has multiple OB trucks for redundancy - though often both are doing different jobs normally - music and presentation quite often - but one could do both in extremis)

The BBC/Atos SatOps operation may still assist some years - but I think both uplink/fibre distribution and downlink of voting are now handled more locally to the contest. (I have some memory that the main uplink is usually on-site, with a secondary uplink elsewhere via fibre)

I think Harshy is confusing Eurovision - the EBU system for linking together European broadcasters and distributing content to them - with the Eurovision Song Contest which is just a small part of what it does.

I have a vague recollection of that mural being the result of a design competition on Blue Peter or Going Live.

The Going Live logo on the sign on the right gives away which of those it was Wink

Apparently the letters on the TV Centre sign are going to be auctioned.

Is it only the TC1 roundels that are listed? I thought the signage on the side of TC1 was as well - or are you talking about the sign above Stage VI reception?

Surely the letters can't be listed? They only went up in 1997.
