I remember Lisa Brash saying on air once that she had to be in at 1.30pm even though she came on air at 6pm. She said that the three hours prior to coming on air she researches and tries the products.

I have noticed that recently there have been a lot of posts at the Shopping Telly forum that are getting very personal. I'm sure that over here making the personal comments that some over there make would end up with a warning or a banning. Whilst some of the tactics that have been used are misleading and have been dealt with by the ASA, I think that it's getting to the point now where some have nothing to complain about, so start attacking the presenters for various reasons.

It doesn't absolve the company of its wrongdoing, but it does show that some people think that they're free to say what they want about people. It makes me glad for the moderation that goes on here over encroaching into personal matters.

It's Lisa Brash's last night on Speed Auction tonight, she's just said that she's moving over to Price-Drop tomorrow.

That is a shame. She will have to change her presenting style quite a bit when she moves to Price Drop. I quite liked watching her sitting their moaning, laughing or coughing on Speed Auction and using the channel to communicate with her friends and family, especially her Mother (Freeda from South Shields). I expect this won't be encouraged on Price Drop.

I wonder if they're slowly winding speed auction down? I wonder how many other speed auction presenters will have their "last shift" in the next few days?

It wouldn't surprise me; I've watched quite a few times and totted up the revenue taken in an hour, and I've no idea how they can make a profit on it.

I wonder whether it's better value to run it as an actual channel for training up presenters, rather than training presenters off air. It may also be a useful indicator for how popular an item will be on their main channels.

I pressed record as soon as Charlie 'Charleston' Hopkins said "Let me just rest this on top", it was an accident waiting to happen. Thankfully, no one lost an eye, so it is fine to laugh about it.

It seems that we never learn from history.


I expect however good the ladder is, it isn't the kind of thing that lends itself to be demonstrated quickly on a shopping channel.

What an excellent video. Maybe it will be used in health and safety training for decades to come.
