Oh and Lucy found 'ITV News Granada Reports' a bit of a mouthful there. I'd bet money it'll be referred to by presenters as plain old Granada Reports before long.

Why have some regions been allowed keep their old names for the news programmes (Granada Reports, Lookaround and Calendar coming to mind) while others are forced to follow the ITV News (region name) format? Seems a bit odd.

As for the national news, its a good look with far more ITN traditions in - the return of the Clock Tower and more of "The Awakening" in the theme. One thing I don't get though is the bongs in the end credits on the Lunchtime News - why????

He finished by saying "Welcome to ITV News Central", straight after Bob said "Indeed, still to come on Central Tonight".

The irony...

I'm shocked at the presenters of numerous regions using the old names on air in the biggest rebrand of ITV. They've went into such detail to make sure its thorough, and then the presenters let them down!

They are giving themselves some huge mouthfuls to say - I thought Border was bad (but they managed it) - just seen Channel's on their website "Welcome to ITV News, the headlines from Channel Television".

That quote there isn't a mouthful at all! Nothing like 'Hello and a very good morning from Daybreak Tyne Tees and Border' as it was back in 2010 on the Daybreak opt-outs.

Also why are some writing itvNEWS on the forum? That's not how ITV News is referring to itself in the normal text I've seen online.

Not sure, but hopefully people will stop soon. It's ITV News when written.

It used to annoy me when people referred to Sky One as "sky onc" back in the day. It's Sky One!

Calendar will get away with it because ITV News Yorkshire is a geographically bad name for a region which is much more than just Yorkshire - it's why they have always been Calendar, and never used the region name in their news programme names.

Border is getting to be a bit of mess - one minutes it's Lookaround, then it's ITV Tyne Tees and Border, and occasionally ITV Border - biggest problem there is there isn't a simple name for the whole new region, unlike in the South West.

The simplicity of the new set though makes it all the more disappointing there have been no regional changes...

Umm, that's a simple set? It might be simple looking ...

Can't wait to see what Granada eventually have in store in MediaCityUK. Looking forward to that in a couple of months and fingers crossed that it tries to replicate London and the Nationals.

Would be great to see a "real" version of this set. Although I think most people will be convinced by the VR - it's pretty convincing.

Absolutely. I agree with both points. Depends on their budget for the studio and dimensions of their space, I guess.

No need to be an arse. He obviously means it visually very simple, compared to previous virtual sets.

So was the press release wrong or was it a late idea to change from royal blue to teal?

Of course...

Only criticism I really have is the bongs aren't strong enough in the opening - they could do with being a little bit more bongy.
