Ooh La La!

We have a new weatherman on BBC World.

Ooh La La. That's all I'm a saying.

Ben Rich?

That's him, yes.

Has he now joined the national weather team? I just heard him doing the weather on the Today programme. Has he been on domestic TV yet?

BBC get Jacksonville, Florida in the wrong place as shown on Points of View.

That is one of the things I hate about Points of View. They go to the effort to get a relevant clip but don't bother making a quick phone call to find out how something like that happens.

Were the location graphics done manually and someone just made a mistake, are the locations taken from a database that was wrong? Where did this database come from? etc.

Actually it's Points of View that's wrong on this one. There is a Jacksonville in North Carolina which is correctly marked out on the map shown.

I feel I should end with a Points of View style comment so...

"Just WHY do I pay my licence fee? SHAME on you BBC."

I seem to recall from a discussion about this on North West Tonight (where people were complaining their town never gets put on the map), Diane - the weather presenter - said the computer automatically decides which towns to show. I could have dreamt this however - how sad my life may be.

They seem to have some preset areas on the BBC London map, Tonbridge and Maidstone in Kent, Wendover in Bucks, The City of London etc.

ITV London appear to have more carte blanche with the towns selected. More inner London towns get their placename on the map in comparison to BBC London.

I think there is some freedom with it, hence why Paul Hudson would always add Wetwang to the map.
At ITV, anything goes - hence Bob Johnson's sadly-missed anagrams and acrostics.

Is it my imagination, or have the BBC changed something about the weather pres studio in the last week or so ?

The presenters seem to be stood closer to the camera, and there's a subtle difference in the depth of field, or is there ! ? Confused

I think they have - the keying isn't very good at all and the presenter doesn't look as well lit as before.
