I really think they should lose Neighbours now - or at the very least move it.
Does anybody know how well Neighbours does in the ratings? when I was a kid (ten or so years ago) everybody watched it, and everybody talked about it... I can't say that I've observed that kind of following recently.

Im pretty sure the last time people were on about neighbours it was doing fairly well in the ratings. Im sure someone will tell us who is in the know.

I think it still does surprsingly well. Its the right kind of show that that time slot, as its mainly for older children so it sits well after CBBC. I think its one of those shows that you tend to grow out of.
However saying that it would be nice if the BBC did replace it, but they do have the problem that its a 20/25 minutes slot so they couldn't even fill it would say Doctors.
I think if they were forced to replace (if it got the axe in Oz) then they would just extend CBBC. Of course if they still had the Simpsons....

I think you're right, and those people who are still "genetically predisposed" to soaps (you know who you are ladies

What is going on with The Simpsons on BBC 2? I noticed that Sky are now showing the earlier seasons that the BBC had previously. Have Sky and BBC2 effectivly swapped what seasons they are allowed to show?

) move on to the more depressing realm of EastEnders etc.
Don't slag it off. EastEnders is class!

I think it's quite true that people generally grow out of it but surely that doesn't mean no-one watches it- just a younger generation.
The same could be said with all childrens tv- as some people stop watching others begin.

oooh, I wonder if this will mean lots of FULL credit music like we get on Holby.
I doubt it, it's been nearly 10 years since the BBC short version of the neighbours credits was introduced, and they don't seem about to loose them. What's more likely is that they'll now get their own special ECP compatible edits of the credits made for them.

No, Sky have always had the rights to the older episodes, they just haven't shown them in a while. ATM Sky are showing season 1 chronologically, but that's probably because the animation in season 1 was made by a different company and looks a bit different (i'd say 'inferior' actually - the backgrounds in particular aren't half as detailed in season 1) to the other seaons so they are usually shown together. Sky will finish Season 1 tonight (at 6PM) and you probably won't see them on Sky again for a while. BBC2 periodically do the same thing.

It certainly does not sound like the full version to me on Holby. The continuity person always seems to talk over it.

I see, it makes sense that even though BBC and SKY are rival broadcasters, they are not actually showing the same programmes at the same time.
I haven't actually seen some of the earlier Simpsons episodes actually, I;ve only started being a fan in the past year or so, but the "all-new" episodes on SkyOne are a bit lame gag wise, these earlier epsiodes have had me in stiches at times. I think the end is near, unfortunatly for The Simpsons. It's a shame that Groening isn't developing Futurarma a bit more - I hear that it's been scrapped as well...?
