What about BBC World?????

Well... available in 180 million homes in 200 countries and territories worldwide (81 million 24-hour homes).

In the days after Sept 11th the channel was available to an additional 300 million homes across the world as boradcasters asked the BBC for permission to relay the channel.

It might not make mountains of cash for the Beeb - but it does wonders for the organisation's reputation. Being developed for next year - closer marketting and working relationships with BBC World Service Radio.

In 24 hour news channel terms Sky News has by far the best coverage of events.

It has more live reports than N24
breaking news first
a better Active service than N24 even though it was launched 9 months before and has not changed since
A better studio than N24
Much better presenters than the dross on N24
Better and more informed guests
and in graphics terms people allways go about about Sky News being bad but N24s arnt exactly good
Links with FOX in the US and others to make up for the lack of many foreign corrospondents and to bring foriegn news on par with BBC.

(ITN news channel does not deserve a mention)

I'm afraid the problem I have with Sky News is the Murdoch connection. Cliched, but true.

Well I agree about Sky News studio being better then crap 24!

BBC Crap 24 don't make the best use of BBC News graphics, eg the 'LIVE' caption!

Ok some people have been wanting info about BBC World and where are their figures. There's a comprehensive Flash Flyer available on the site giving figures for 2000.

See www.bbcworld.com and look out for The ATMS Flyer thingy at the bottom of the homepage.

I can't watch Sky News. As soon as I turn it on, all those 'in yer face' graphics, astons, DOGs - you name it, its got it - appear and its just too cluttered for my liking. News 24's is much more uncluttered, even more so in the last 2 months, what with the URL being removed from the right hand corner, and you can remove the 'PRESS RED' DOG if you wish, so its great.

I totally agree with you Rob! I never have watched Sky News, and when they brought out their new look, it's put me off even more! I'm quite happy with News 24 and World!

On the Subject of Sky News, has anybody got an inkling if they are going to change the graphics and all the 'loose ends' as I would call them in time for the launch of C5 sunrise, bringing back program identity and giving us back the soft area!

You can remove the red button thing on Sky News too and therefore sometimes only have the dog/time in 1 corner not spread over too. The screen is no where near as clutted as say Sky Sports News.

Gary - Have you even tried watching Sky News for its news and not graphics. Watch it and maybe you will change from the slow and weather obsesed N24!

I like News 24's output, and I hate the Sky News graphics, but I can't help feeling the BBC's astons should look better.

Sky News is a turn-off for me, too.

I used to dislike News 24 until the Sky relaunch. The graphics are terrible, and the whole channel just seems cheap and nasty. I think News 24 is definitely the best out of the two now - above all they are providing news. Sky seems to have gone down the route of US news channels and looked to entertainment rather than information.

BBC News graphics are simplistic and modern without being in your face (Sky have tried to take this approach and failed).

In my opinion and above all, you just can't beat the British Broadcasting Corporation!
