Not more on the Chevron! PLEASE someone explain why it's Scary. It's a chevron oriented to look like a stylised Y. Why is that Scary? Can any explanation of it's scariness be made without quoting 3-2-1. Is it's 'notorious' scariness all because of 1 programme?

I imagine the 'scary' reputation may have something to do with it being a 'sharp' object (e.g. the bottom point is sharp) on a black background (originally) - and it therefore is symbolic of something like an attacker's knife coming at you out of the dark night...

(I'm only guessing)

On the Chevron - am I the only person that doesn't describe it as 'scary'? It's just that 'Liquid Gold' is one of my all time favorite ident sequences! I think it's a cool chevron!

The 'Channel 3' spinning chevron (and its 3-less re-edit too) always made me think of gameshows. I don't know why. Something about the colourscheme probably.

The pale blue background of the daytime version (with or without swirling 3s) is like the blue of the Bruce's Price Is Right diamond logo. And you could image a gameshow using a CGI pound sign (£) just like the chevron (i.e. golden-yellow, 3D, shiny)
