Did anyone see it?

Apart from the extra clips, why did it feel like an extended edition of his old 'Tonight' show?

By the way is Itv making all non drama at the old Lwt studios now, or does it just feel like it?(apart from the likes of X Factor etc!)

Is the old Granada studios used at all for Light Entertainment now?

Jeremy Kyle, I think University Challenge (for BBC 2) and Countdown (for Channel 4).

I assumed that was the intention.

University Challenge and Countdown share Studio 8 at Granada, Jeremy Kyle uses Studio 6, aside Granada News and Coronation Street the studios are empty.

It was all a bit random. Especially the 'celeb' audience which seemed to consist of Matt Lucas's mum, Joe McElderry, Frank Foster from Corrie & Linda Bellingham.

Nice of them to give Des a send-off though, and whilst he's still with us. I take it he's not planning any more TV ? It seemed a bit final.

I used to enjoy what I recall of his chat shows (Wednesdays at 8pm ?), and looking back he used to get good guests, I mean Hollywood A-listers. Unfortunate then that none of them turned up for this.

There were a few more celebrities than that. I was actually in the audience, with Nitin Ganatra (Masood from EastEnders) in front of me, and Max Clifford behind me, and I appeared several times on TV!

Well fair enough, but it felt like they went out to the London Studios café and dragged in whoever happened to be about.

The 'An Audience with' brand seems to have gone now then?

Yes, I reckon Elton John must have a whole collection of "Sorry I couldn't be there"s ready to hand out when needed. Laughing

It was nice of them to play the old Today with Des and Mel theme when Mel Sykes came on, I'm guessing the Ray Monk band were in studio? It did feel like classic mid-nineties LWT at some points, although, as stated above, it had such a 'goodbye' vibe about it, I'm surprised the guests didn't cart Des off at the end!

I didn't see this unfortunately, but it reminds me of his show when he had Stan Boardman and Oliver Reed as his guests, and we all know what happened on that evening.

I have the whole show recorded on VHS somewhere.

I thought it was decent. Definitely a breath of fresh air compared to the drivel usually found on a Sunday night.

Stan was in the audience, in a couple of shots.

My understanding was, that the show was just to celebrate 50 years of Des being on television? Unless I'm missing something?
