Horrible, even though I know it is from the old Yugoslavia days, just updated.

This design was really ahead of its time for 1978.

Yes and you can see why they've never bothered to really change it since.

That set kind of reminds me of Central News before they went to the ITV corporate look.

Oh yes, like a hybrid of their 2001 and 2003 giant 'N' look...

This is the opening that had replaced the opening of the 1978 year

Here are the first few minutes of the joint Yugoslav (JRT) news from 1967 -- because this is a special New Year's edition, the news intro is at 2:47, following holiday greetings from Yugoslavia's regional broadcasters in different languages:



The following year, the various JRT member broadcasters began to produce their own news (TV Ljubljana in Slovenia was the first, due to the language issue).

Oh, and here is the intro to the 5,000th edition of Belgrade's evening TV news from 1974:
