BBC World now rolling with BBC News Channel. Shared coverage anchored by Martine Dennis, Rachel Schoefield, Owen Thomas and, now, David Eades on BBC World. Sound and picture keeps dipping out on BBC coverage. It looks as though BBC has shuffled anchors around between studios whilst trying to remain on air.

Rosemary Church rolling on CNNI.

Outstanding shared coverage from the Japanese network NHK. Incredible pictures of the devastation.

No vision as yet from the BBC studio, but sounds like Owen Thomas, David Eades and Rachel Schoefield (?) are co-anchoring from the World studio, but simulcasting on World and N24.

They've had sound issues since I woke up. A bit confusing hearing all those anchors, not seen one of them in vision yet.

BBC Breakfast continues on BBC1 whilst the News Channel has broken away for its own coverage.

Last I saw BBC Breakfast was talking about car garage jargon!

News Channel broke off much earlier than now. I was up at 7am and they were rolling with BBC World News.

I realise that, I was just posting it in the thread for future reference.

I am supposed to be flying to Tokyo on the 23rd for 10 days holiday. I am watching the coverage on NHK World ch 516, occasionally swapping to the other news channels to see how they are covering it. Everyone seems to be taking the NHK World feed.

I'm looking at the BBC World feed on livestation and they seem to have the BBC NEWS logo and clock on the screen. As well as no local time on the Live dogs would suggest that N6's gallery is taking charge.
edit: the World News logo is now up.

Am I right in saying that this World / NC joint is continuing, with Rachael S and David E ?

Presume the split out will be at 9am.

It's David Eades who is anchoring with Rachel. BBC World was interrupted twice earlier by power failures and had to switch studios twice (according to @OwenThomas BBC on twitter). Not sure what will happen at 0900. May continue with the same team?

CNN rolling with NHK coverage.

Edit: BBC News staying with World simulcast at 9am, presented by David Eades and Rachel Schoefield.

Incidentally Colin Brazier is on air an hour early on Sky News. Breakfast returned to the story for a few minutes at 9am with another eyewitness account.

Some remarkable pictures indeed from NHK. With the Red Cross describing the tsunami wave as 'higher than many Pacific islands', it looks like this has the potential to become much worse.

Dramatic Video all over YouTube and broadcasters, the Ibaraki whirlpool especially.
