I guess they are trying to avoid using the Broadcast phrase to avoid confusion - particularly with New Broadcasting House in Oxford Road, Broadcasting House in W1, and The Broadcast Centre in W12. Already people often turn up in W1 when they should be in W12 or vice-versa...
Personally I quite like Pacific Quay as a name - and have no real issue with Dock, Bridge and Quay to describe the Salford buildings. Better to have a name rooted in reality than some "concept".
Given that the BBC has already distanced itself from TV and Radio (now Vision and Audio&Music internally) to prepare itself for an age when pictures aren't delivered purely by TV and sound purely by Radio - these building names seem more futureproof than calling a building Television Centre.
