Rare use of the generic 1989 ITV ident there, with no regional branding - and a very odd LWT still caption just as the film begins - was this intentional?

The LWT 'caption' was the first frame of their break-bumper so it wouldn't have been intentional, no

This is one of the rare occasions where a "fully network night" service took place, ( 25/26) I have heard talk that this did happened even Granada service went to London, but never found a clip up until now which proves.

If that's the case & Central also joined at that point, where they didn't normally, was there a sort of regional continuity on the night service?

IIRC (at least in 1989-91 anyway) the schedules were common but Granada's continuity continued, using a dirty feed from London so you'd occasionally see flashes of the London presentation.

That makes no sense, as Granada provide a feed to TT. Borders, Grampain, UTV and TSW. why didn't there just opt to go straight to London for a direct feed.

Presumably because they wanted consistent branding. As I recall, all ITV stations took much the same schedule at this point. Granada took London's feed and replaced Thames/LWT's inserts with their own. Other stations may have just left London's presentation running, I don't know.
This continued after 1992 as well, as I distinctly remember in Christmas 1992 seeing what must be the only example of triple branding in one junction I've ever witnessed. YTV must have been taking Granada's feed; a few times overnight we saw the "Night Shift" ident fade into the "Night Time" one, and on one occasion the NS ident switched half-way through the ident to the Night Time one, which in turn gave way to a flash of the London service as the film started!
It could have been an absolute stonker of a cock-up; earlier that night, we'd seen Bill Steel handing over to Night Shift, followed by the end of a YTV trailer before the start of the NS ident. If the two had co-incided, we'd have seen five separate pieces of branding within a one-minute period......

TSW/ UTV/ Grampain/Borders all kept the Granada nighttime ident: ( black cat) which makes this even more complex from early 1991 London service had special ITV branded idents: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J71jW7M1QU&
It's A shame you never recorded that clip,that is really shocker!

So there just a few points left out standing which are:
* Where did HTV and Westcountry get there service from between 1996 - 2000? was it meridian and was it locally branded? ( it does seem after Granada closedown there both switched to Meridian feed from 1995 - 1996)
* What month did Granada service close-down in summer of 1995?
* Did "3 nights" Lwt idents start from January 1993 until summer 1995
Presentation which is still missing:
* Meridian/ Anglia joint service from mid 1994 onwards ( unless it was the same )
* Cartlon night time from 1993 - 1995
* HTV and Westcountry from 1996 - 2000
Also I have email a few CA from HTV at the time, alas all the replys have come back ( to date) with unable to remember what happened!

Ah, I see -- I always assumed that was the London feed rather than Meridian!
This will have come from the Tyne Tees Bilsdale feed -- I can tell that from all the nasty hard-switching going on between trails that was a feature of the Bilsdale service at the time (though, curiously, not from Emley Moor or Pontop Pike!).
EDIT: Just realised this was from 1993 rather than 92 -- the year before this they were taking their feed from Manchester; in this case I'm not sure, it could still have been Manchester who may also have opted early (or indeed Meridian may have just overshot their schedule).
