Re Channel 5 bringing back the original 1997 idents - I recall ashley's thisisfive site holding a poll when it launched and the original set of idents got the most votes for the best idents they had had so far. Of course this was back in 02/03 so opinion might have changed but I'm just wondering what other people's opinions are on this?

The Five brand is now becoming stronger - the Channel 5 brand and identity was very poor. I think it's a great shame to go back and not forwards!!

Brilliant to see Five has rejoined project Canvas. At least the new owners realise how important it is for the future of TV, whilst RTL obviously didn't have a clear idea of what the UK market is like or going to be like in the near future.

Also, I don't think it's actually been said that they're adopting the old idents again, they just said they're reverting back to a logo "like the original moniker".

Indeed, and even if they wanted to they couldn't bring back the originals, even if the masters exist, they're the wrong shape!
