Channel 4 are changing their morning schedule from next Monday 11th January. It appears Channel 4 have now removed all of their education programmes from the morning schedule and are favouring entertainment shows instead. They have also reduced the news to a 5 minute bullitin at 12pm...

8.30am Frasier. Rpt.
9.00 Will and Grace. Rpt.
9.25 Wogan's Perfect Recall. Rpt.
9.55 Deal or No Deal. (repeated from previous day)
10.40 According to Jim. Rpt.
11.05 ER. Rpt.
12.00-12.05pm Channel 4 News summary.

Notice all full of repeats, but the new schedule doesn't look that bad really Smile

The shorter lunchtime news started this week. The repeats of Deal or No Deal and Perfect Recall aside they have been repeating various comedy and drama in the mornings some weeks for quite a while. For example they showed all of the last series of Ugly Betty at 11am in December.

TV Choice doesn't say According to Jim is a repeat

If last year is anything to go by the education shows may reappear for a few weeks at some point

It was said about 18 months ago though schools programmes would be phased out, but there's always been a bit of confusion over what that meant.

And I know it's minor, but surely better to have the news bulletin at 11.55am, then start the next show at midday.

It's a shame that Schools programmes have now dissapered from C4. But it's has gone downhill since they got rid of the special presentation for it.

Channel 4 in general seems to be repeating a lot at the moment.

Damn! I was actually hoping they'd repeat 'Is TV Dead?' as I had one episode missing from that.

Surely it's on 4oD anyway.

Although deviating from the traditional and repeat heavy, there were still a few gems amongst their programming - and they've stuck at the same level as the eighties for a lot longer than the BBC, whose school schedule is all over the place - though don't know how repeat heavy it is or whether there are any gems amongst it.

It would be good though if C4 did continue with a couple of landmark series a year (like Battlefront), just played out within the morning schedule rather than a dedicated "learning" strand.

BBC2 have also somewhat reduced their morning school programmes. I remember in the 90's BBC2 would run a morning of school programmes titled 'Daytime On Two' from 9am until 12.30pm. Now BBC2 show school programmes at 11am until 12pm. Having said this, BBC2 don't really need to show much school programmes anymore as they still show The Learning Zone at 4am to 6am on certain times of the year. I think it's currently taking a short break, though according to DigiGuide, it's not scheduled to return in the next 2 weeks. Maybe BBC2 has axed it now? Time will tell Smile

Indeed "Daytime on Two" used to run through till the mid-afternoon. I remember the 1.20pm Children's BBC was in between schools programmes. I think it went through to around 2.15pm, though obviously the end time got earlier and earlier as time went on.
