Week after next from the RT website.

SUNDAY NIGHT
2100 - 2230. Original one off network drama replaced on STV by Fitz and another repeat of Airline.

MONDAY NIGHT
2100 - 2200 Monday Monday replaced by the RTE thriller which they showed a few Sundays back.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
2000 - 2200 Midsomer Murders replaced by another screening of the Mission Impossible movie.

At least The Bill is actually being covered up by a Scottish programme.

Matters of personal taste aside - or debate about whether it's in STV's business interests to do this - how can denying choice to Scottish viewers possibly be a good thing?

How long until Loose Woman is replaced by a repeat of The Hour? With the omnibus edition at the weekends. Wink

What's going on is obvious...

STV is dumping expensive network programmes - ie drama other than soaps and the best sport - and replacing them with cheaper material. This is quite distinct from welcome moves to produce more local programmes.

What they said was, "replace network with programming that better serves the Scottish viewer", not necessarily that they would "produce more local programmes".

Can anybody honestly claim the people of Scotland are better served by two showings of the same episode of South Park within a few weeks. Or replacing the Midsomer Murders with a repeat of Foyle's War. Or would prefer three screenings of the same humdrum RTE thriller made five years ago to Kingdom or, even, Monday Monday?

Not having seen Monday Monday (as indeed I won't be able to) I can't comment on that one - but Midsomer Murders, Kingdom and particularly English football I don't miss one bit.

And are you really saying people don't watch the same episode of a cartoon twice in a few weeks? Lets get real here. I will tune into the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Futurama etc AGAIN and AGAIN. Good grief these programmes live in reruns; as if they didn't there would be a lot of arthritic animators in Hollywood.

And dropping The Bill - their third most popular programme - is almost certain to create some kind of a backlash. Just wait til next week when people realise what's happened.

Who's "third most popular programme"? England's? Would you be using the same measure to define the yawnworthy Al Murray or loathsome Piers Moron?

Simple as this. Either we should have STV delivering the ITV1 schedule tailored to Scotland - or we should have a choice between STV and ITV1 as separate, competing stations.

It strikes me that we are having the ITV1 schedule tailored for Scotland. The only one I'm not clear on is the popularity of The Bill (and neither are you, by the way), so perhaps we should sit back and wait to see what the response from the STV audience is.

I agree with Gavin. Personally, I don't watch any of the ITV1 programmes that have been dropped, however, I do watch South Park, The Hour and I watched Fitz on Sunday and thought it was quite good.

Of course this is my personal viewing, but I think some people should stop acting as though it's the end of the world that STV decides what it shows on its own station.

Possibly the most stupid opt-out yet from STV is with the Moon Landings programmes

They are showing all the episodes with the ITV network except the last one on Monday which is instead being shown on Friday at Midnight

Why? So they can rejoin the Network in time for the Tour de France programme at 1:10am? That just strikes me as complete laziness - could they not have found programmes to fit the same duration as the Network ones, digging out a 20 minute filler if necessary?

The only programmes that STV have dropped that I watch myself are "Kingdom" and "Lewis" - but it's not the end of the world if I don't see them (I didn't even expect them to make another series of "Kingdom"). From what I've seen of it, STV seems like a rather good PSB providing a high-quality service to its viewers.

Here in Wales, local programmes on ITV are 'few and far between' these days, but they're always scheduled in place of something we won't particularly miss (eg. "Tonight" and "Countrywise") - which seems to be what STV are aiming to do as well.

I don't watch any of the " axed " programmes except for Benidorm and Moving Wallpaper, but if STV want to show tartan or transatlantic television, then they could at least schedule The Bill etc post News at Ten where they are showing repeats etc.

ITV3 will be repeating The Bill, but not until Wednesday at 11pm.

That's a good solution.

STV have go themselves some overnight gambling programming, what joy.

NetPlay TV, which operates interactive gaming services including SuperCasino.com and ChallengeJackpot.com, said the casino would be broadcast live on STV in the late night schedule on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, effective August.

There are no casino programmes on ITV1, they've only been 'rumoured' so far

It strikes me that we are having the ITV1 schedule tailored for Scotland.

Or an ITV1 schedule tailored for STVs budget. Which is fair enough I guess.
