The use of a telephone handset at 2'41" on the attached clip - is the handset "actually" used as a real telephone (i.e. the anchor and the correspondent hear each other via that handset) or is it just for "show"?

Well we certainly know that the phones on the desk were operational, from the time we saw Nicholas Witchell phoning security during the lesbian invasion. (Not that that proves they were in use on this occasion).

Yes newsdesk phones crop up in a few classic TV clips: there's the classic 'What am I supposed to tell the Panorama audience watching?' - (at 7:15) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgplTgol0ts

And even further back (at 4:30)

The desk light on BBC London appears to have blown, leaving the desk unlit and looking very bland on tonights programme.

As part of 'green week' Look East will be featuring some behind the scenes footage, I believe focusing on their studio.

I caught the very end of the programme and everything that was red was green aka the chairs, the wall they use to Julie's monitor, and the titles.

Good!!!

Serves them right in my view. If the Beeb, and media in general must insist on hyping up the UK's population to hysteria and panic over swine flu (and who better than with Robert Hall and his voice of doom), then they'll have to put up with jokers like that lad. I've now given up watching any TV news, I'm sick to bloody death of the blow by blow coverage. Flu kills thousands of people every year, therefore if more people contract it, and/or a more potent version, more will die. It's hardly rocket science !

How long has the regional bit of the Politics Show had the regional weather as part of it?

Don't always watch the Politics show but it has been there for a few weeks at least. Possibly since Country File moved to the evenings?

That's exactly why Politics Show now has a regional weather forecast in it at the moment. AIUI, it's a trial. I'm not sure it fits into the show particularly well!

But CountryFile never had a regional forecast? Or did some regions opt out of the national Weather for the Week Ahead and do their own?
