So long it wouldn't fit in the title - it's Peter Kays Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice , described as a "celebration of reality TV talent shows".

So is it the longest programme title in the world... ever?

I've been wondering what Peter Kay's been up to these last few years.

On a similar note, the great Charlie Brooker returns soon with a new reality TV spoof set in the Big Brother house...

He's certainly not been writing much new material! Apart from Max and Paddy (which was very poor) he's just been re-releasing the same live gigs on new DVDs every Christmas Rolling Eyes

AFAIK, he said last year that he's written a third series of Pheonix Nights, but there is a dispute between him and Dave Spikey.

From what I've read before, that's actually slightly misleading. It won't be a reality tv spoof and it certainly isn't a comedy, it's a straight up horror show albeit with comedic elements. I suspect the Guardian have latched onto this BB thing when it's probably only mentioned for five minutes in one episode of the series.

Yeah, how much more can he get out of "Garlic Bread?" and "Bullseye"?

Perhaps he's finally come up with some new material but I'd be disappointed if it was the same stuff.

Peter Kay has fallen out with Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice who wrote the original (apparently he tends to fall out with a lot of people he works with). If Max and Paddy is anything to go by a new Pheonix Nights without them being involved might not be that great

He's been doing roughly the same material since 'The Sunday Show' in the mid 90's. The main problem in recent years is that he's released DVDs every Christmas but they are all the same routine but in different locations with a few new extras chucked in. The live shows plus the extras have all been shown on C4 anyway

Certainly agree the live shows are repetitive, but I thought Max and Paddy was great myself - one of the better comedy spin-offs - and it's a shame they didn't do a second series.

Attack of the contradictions there - if you say it 'isn't a comedy' but a 'straight up horror show', that implies it won't have any comedy, because it's a "straight up" horror! Razz I get that you mean the vast majority of it is horror.

Just a thought: if the BB house is not even a central part of the show, what is the title Dead Set supposed to relate to, if anything?

I auditioned for that.

The programme didn't seem funny on script, more a parody of other shows. Central character called R Wayne won't get on the show unless he's got a sob-story. His gran dies, then she becomes his ticket to stardom. There's a scene where they plaster her image all over the screen while he's singing three times a lady.

The script looked like it was written by a dyslexic. Full of spelling errors and no punctuation. Looks like it'll be sh*t.

I agree, shame we didn't get a second series of Max & Paddy, it wasn't as bad as people made out.
