ITV.com attempt

I'm rather disappointed by the redesign of ITV.com so here is my version

I am also working on other pages for the site and, if all goes well, I will post them as I do them.

It'd be great if some other members produced their ideas for the website as well!

Sorry, cramped, crowded, horrible. Don't like it.

Yeah, I really gotta agree with J Rothwell - cramped and a little too simplistic. Maybe if the colours were perhaps gradiented a little more and things were spread out - it could be a relatively decent mock. I mean, come on, blue gradient and the bottom with a blue ".com" text? Seriously - a no-no.

Way too cluttered. Here's the best way forward for ITV.com, IMO:

Look familiar? It should, because this is what ITV promised their new website would look like.

Agreed G4. How did it get from a superb design like that to what we have now?

When ITV decided to go cheap and hope no-one noticed like usual.

My guess would be that the online team would get too p¡ssed off having to cut around those pictures every day! I wouldn't be surprised if that were true as there aren't any "spectacular" or well placed images on the site.

They would only have to do it once for every programme.
And, I agree - they should have continued to develop that design.

damn G4! why did you have to tease me with that wonderful design! grr lol I do not know why they didn't use that layout, it is so much better than what they have now.

The good thing about that proposed design is not just the way that it pleases the eye, but also how compact the layout is.

It has all of the channel listings, which would have presumebly linked through to each channel's site, it had the weather in a symbol, which linked to the weather. You had all programmes of importance in the scroller at the top, and all of the headlines for each section which made it look like a brilliant layout, and that even included the video player, which looked like a better design. It's just a shame that they never went ahead with that.

Does anybody know if they built a demo of that site so that everything worked and linked through rather than just making an image?
