Is it more important that we know who found out about the fatality first... or that we act like proper human beings and are saddened that someone has died?
Hopefully no more will have lost their lives - whoever reports it first.

Looks like the first death confirmed on BBC News 24, not sure about Sky News, did they have any information earlier?

Very true. I use this service frequently and I am shivering at this as I was going to use this line to attend a birthday party this weekend.
It is indeed a very sad development.

As had been said News 24 were way ahead. From memory it was about 25/20 to 9. Certainly before Newswatch was due to start which is why I had News 24 on.

The news broke before nine o'clock cause five news announced it at about 8.57 at the start of their news update. Anyway tonight proves SKY's slogan wrong First for Breaking News.

Sorry Josh, wasn't meaning to get at you. We're all interested in who got what first, but just wanted to inject a bit of humility to the proceedings.
However, it does seem that while the BBC were last to get a satellite truck to the scene, they had mostly everything else, including journos who are doing more groundwork and getting the stories.
