Anyone know when the queen of BBC News returns ? And do we know how many days a week she will be working and is Darren Jordan yawn yawn still the second presenter on the 1 and why not Jane Hill - she seems to have been sidelined

Think Sophie will be back from maternity leave sometime during the summer. Not sure how many days she will be doing. The usual pattern used to be Anna Mon-Thur, Darren JordOn on Friday (it is Jordon not Jordan) - and quite often Darren did some weekends as well.

It could be that Sophie only does 3 days a week I guess?

Jane has been amazing this week. IMO Darran is extremely bland.

She should be the main presenter of the 6 o'clock news. Natasha and George are ok, but definately not together! Jane all the way!

Whilst Jane has been a breath of fresh air to the BBC, I disagree about Natasha and George. Most of the problem is with George - he's clearly a more experienced 'anchor' style newsreader (fitting that they're putting him on the US world show) so he reads the news in a very tightly scripted and un-chemical way.

Watching Natasha with Jon or DermoT is more bearable (as I don't really rate her as a newsreader) but perhaps it's time to slot George onto the weekends, or possibly a Sunday N24 shift.

Who was the woman on the Six with George the other day (repeated on Have I Got News) who completely lost the plot, the autocue and everything and just kept blurting out random (and completely stupid) words in no particular order, for what seemed like ages, but was certainly best part of forty-five seconds?

You saw a bit about George during that fiasco. I've rarely seen anyone ever look quite so angry straight to camera. The impression certainly came over that he can't abide working with fools during that incident.

That was Jane Hill - who's no fool. I imagine something just went wrong with the autocue

When I watched it originally and when I watched it on Have I Got News, I just couldn't help wondering why she didn't have the presence of mind to apologise, rather than just going on with "up brother tomorrow can't left bringing says yesterday out flying prosper night helmet rapid uncle".

Would the correct version of this piece not be on her written script?

I would have thought so, yes.

And they were both sitting at the desk at the time, so no excuse of forgetting to take that particular page with her when she walked over to the screen.

Anyone else think that Sophie's back tomorrow?? It's just that Darren is doing the News tonight and in all the time that he's been doing the one full time he hasn't done anything at weekends. Plus it's June now. Am i on to something?
