Rather unusually no, it's all on BBC2. This is probably best because it won't rate that highly. Does anybody remember the Sydney Olympics when BBC1 had that special balloon ident? Can anybody explain why they used it in virtually every junction except before the Olympics itself!?!
IIRC they dropped it fairly quickly because it looks absolutely awful - the balloon looked very dodgily superimposed, just not convincing at all. Don't remember seeing it much if at all after the first few days.

The thing is though that for the duration of the Olympics it popped up everywhere, it was on before Neighbours several times, but never before an Oympics programme. Odd. It looked much better than the one they did for the eclipse, now THAT was rushed.
There were loads of BBC1 themed balloon idents, they just don't seem to do anything with the dancers. If we still had the balloon I'm 99% certain we would have seen a special ident for the return of Doctor Who like they did with The Blue Planet and Walking with Dinosaurs.
I'm just hopeful that because we haven't seen a new BBC1 ident (except at Christmas), that it means that we can expect a change this year.

Have a look at the BBC Two web page now, you'll see a little animation with one of the "Bird" 2s as seen on the website, just before the Olympics trail appears.
Looks like a sign of things to come, they wouldn't make that just for the site!

I get the impression it's a site-only animation, with the bird-like '2' being the central character used to present the site's content.
It'd make very little sense to me if they were to use this as the main on-screen look later on; if that is the case, why not just have launched the new site to coincide with the change on screen? This was not done. That is why I think the new look site is individual in presentation.
Oh, and http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/downloads still exists to function!

Was it along the same rules as ITV (originally) not being allowed to run, for example, the emmerdale celeb ident before an episode of emmerdale?
Although having said that the Euro 2000 idents were used going into the programmes themselves. I think! Don't actually watch football so what I just said is based on absolutely nothing at all. 2000 Today after all was preceded by English 20 (football players in front of Angel of the North) rather than the Millennium Dome ident.
So all in all I can safely conclude that I haven't a clue what I'm on about or why I even began replying to this in the first place!!

I'm sure I remember reading that they had actuallly flown the balloon over to Australia to create this ident. Is my memory that dodgy?
