I've noticed before that items with a shiny or shrink-wrapped surface don't tend to work well in the studio because of their tendency to pick up a green reflection - look at the top of this shrink-wrapped board game...

If there's a photo on the front of a newpaper with a patch of green in it which they hold up to the camera, unsurprisingly it looks as if it has a hole in it.

The green stalks and leaves on Remembrance Day poppies were also interesting - though they were hue-suppressed to grey rather than disappearing I think (so they weren't quite the right green to disappear!)

It is a real problem with chroma keying - you need real experts in lighting, racks and driving the keyers - even with Ultimatte (which is what ITN have I think) which is the best keyer around.

Loved Nicholas Owen popping a balloon on the Lunchtime News. Totally surreal!

Why did he pop a balloon? Deliberately? From what I remember of him, Nicholas is actually very good in his role at ITN. He surely must be the longest serving newscaster now (apart from STM).

Is John Suchet doing anything back there now?

It was part of an interview with a man from the TUC about office Christmas parties and bosses who are party poopers...

He retired back at Easter. He did some work for ITN with the D-Day commemorations though.

I think the reflection from the newswall in the main studio looks far more realistic. But you're right, it would be nice if they looked the same.

It does look daft when you can see the bottom of the newswall image through the desk, making the top of the desk look paper-thin:

I take it nobody saw the ITV news at 2.55 this afternoon - it looked like Lloyd Bracey almost falling off his seat, but yet you could only see less than a second of him doing that due to the Breaking News For Britain being in the way. Still, at least Chris Rogers and Lloyd laughed [so he must have nearly falled over?]

What's happened to Mark Bolton, the bloke who did the Weekend sport earlier this year and used to front Central Sport, but hasn't been seen since the Summer.

P.S. Get the sports presenter back in on a Saturday. I know the main weekend newsreaders are sports presenters, but it just looks better when they cross to someone else.

Sky Sports Premiership touchline reporter.

I posted this many a time in the Central and Midlands thread...

Has anyone else noticed these things: -
Arrow Once mentioned by Steve Scott as part of the Sports Section of the News At 10.30, there was to be a regular "Rooney Watch" - probably, they thought it was going to be awful, so they gave up.
Arrow The same applies for the "Pump Watch"
Arrow ITV News needs more Morning News presenters. I see Sian Jones is on again and Rachel McTavish is starting to be OK, but what about people like Shiulie Ghosh!!
Arrow And, has anyone else noticed ITN don't do their "And Finally" reports anymore. Nowadays, you get stories like David Beckham scores a goal, rather than skateboarding dogs. Shame, really.

Why? The current team of regulars (Rachel McTavish, Sian Jones, John Draper, Mark Webster) seem to manage quite adequately. Even though I think it's a shame McTavish was banished from daytimes and Draper and Webster are more suited to reporting than presenting, as we have discussed here before ad nauseam.

There is usually an 'and finally' story on the Evening News, between the headline recap and the end of the programme.

I have to disagree with the lack of 'and finally' stories. They are still done on the Evening News, and some are quite amusing, although these stories are not that common. For example the other day with the story about the office Christmas party being dangerous.
