Which channel does it at christmas?

Is it BBC1:

Them with there creative christmas balloons in the 90's.
Or them with kids dressed in snowflakes.
Or maybe you think this years onew will be something good?

ITV1:
Well, ITV only did something in 2003 and 2001.

Chanel 4:
Them with snow thrown over the logo last year.

Channel 5:
Various idents with Five.
Artistic Christmas animation a few years ago.
People in christmas car last year.
Or maybe something totally new this christmas.

So, which channel do you think does it for christmas???

I personally think ITV and BBC.

Well the thing is about no3. is that the ident was drawn up by a 10 year old girl and they had a competitiopn on Blue Peter & it is nothing spectacular!

Isn't that slightly biased - Some ITV stations had Christmas Idents in the 90s. Carlton had some of the best Christmas idents ever produced 3 years running . TTTV had some good stuff too - not sure about other stations.

How do you know that this years BBC1 logo is nothing spectacular? It hasn't been created yet. They are only using the childs drawing as the basis and not the finished product. BBC1 is ALWAYS best at Christmas.

Well, Meridian was Scrooge - it never produced anything for the festive season.

Looking at the current state of play, I think that five may be the best this christmas.

BBC One's, OK it may be different, but unless it's truly spectacular I doubt it will be anything special.

BBC Two have apparently said that they're not adding a new one this year (which is a shame), I'd love to have seen a bearded two, where a santa hat drops onto him and then a magic sleigh appears out of fairy dust (perhaps the fairy could have been used again), the yellow fades down, the top of the screen goes all dark and starry and then the 2 in the sleigh flies off, and you then see the sleigh go across the screen at various heights and various depths.

Anyway, moving on.
ITV1. If anything from Monday is to go by, I doubt we'll see anything spectacular, though they could impress and surprise us all, and reveal something splendid.

As I've said previously it wouldn't be hard for them to change the background to the animation. Have the squares glassier like last christmas, either use flying snowflakes again, or have a mixture of designs. Have the squares flying around a tree, before forming the logo either on it, or on top of it.

Have a fairy flying around with three blue squares, and then making the yellow one appear out of magic dust.

Have a Santa's Sleigh flying around, and then when it lands there are 4 presents wrapped on top of the others in shiny blue and yellow wrapping paper when the letters sparkle on to the top of them.

It's all very simple to come up with great ideas, so why don't design companies do it?

On to Channel 4, hopefully they may spend some money doing something different, though chances are that they will re use the snow idents. They're not bad, just a bit boring as they've been used so much.

And five. They always do something for Christmas, but this year, if this Mondays idents are anything to go by they may create something lovely looking, christmassy and with a lovely sound track.

The only problem I had with last years is that they looked cheaply produced, and were filmed during the day. They would have been more effective filmed at night.
Though by the looks of the updated graphics, i'm expecting it to look lovely.

I presume you mean "wouldn't"!

Anyway, I reckon BBC One will come out on top this year, provided that a decent design agency is doing the spacehopper thing.

Really? The Snowflake children I can understand as they're cute, and it's quite christmassy.

I'm not sure how they're going to use somebody bouncing around on a disguised space hopper to introduce drama programmes.
Thus why they had the many different idents in 1997, they used 10 lords are leaping for entertainment, and idents like 5 gold rings for news, etc.
I haven't a clue what they're going to do this year.

lol.

I wonder what CiTV will do. Last year was very wierd as they had nothing based on the current look. They changed the logo and just used the oval with letter cut outs, different music and a wierd design.

Plus it won't be the same without a studio to have decorated.

My favourite was 2002 as they had the bouncing letters and had break animations along with the start up. Where as previous years they had done a start up and then added snowflakes and music to the other animations.

One of my favourite CiTV Christmas was 1998 due to the graphics, the music was nice, and they also had great features like the Advent calender for the phone in competition, the Christmas Countdown Draw when they added a present everyday up to christmas and one person won them all, and a crazy game 'What's Up the Turkey?', which I never understood.

It won't be the same without in vision presentation.
I hope they at least do some christmas animations.
