Granada Reports is just plain awful at the moment.
The opening is terrible - a mixture of the generic style and old Granada Reports music which doesn't go together at all - why can't they stick to the new ITV style which works fine for the other regions. It's not as if the Granada mix sounds better?
Also, the so-called banter is terribly forced. Natural banter is fine, but when it's not natural it stands out like a sore-thumb in a news programme.
The text on the astons is also too large - although I do like their cropped LIVE aston.

Brekkie Boy don't take this the wrong way but why does it bother you so much if your ITV Regional News programme is ITV Wales News?

I get three regions where I live - Central West, Granada and ITV Wales - and therefore can compare Granada Reports to their neighbouring and far superior regional news programming.
After reading that first post, I watched Granada Reports this evening via Sky, and that certainly is some "creative" mixing of the music there. The worst bit has to be that strange little sound effect which cuts apruptly into the title music.
I actually don't see how that music sounds like the old Granada Reports music at all!
As an aside, Meridian cocked up tonight by randomly playing out part of the title music whilst the presenters were talking. We actually heard the crew laughing, which is unusual, though Meridian Tonight is always good for banter.
How ever awful people think how bad Granada Reports is, it is currently alot better than what it used to be IMO, when it was Granada Tonight it was very bad, as it was basically a naff version of This Morning, a very sofa affair, very Americanised and had too much lifestyle to it, which IMO didn't work at all. I do think they go a bit OTT with the banter, but it's still good viewing and is far more lively than North West Tonight IMO, they have chemistry IMO compared to some previous presenters, but I still think the best male presenter is Anthony Wilson, he was very good and never afraid to say what he liked.
I think the set and the on screen straps and astons could do with altering, something like Border's set or a London Tonight style set I wouldn't mind seeing.
But I think it is a good programme which in recent years has gone from strength to strength, it also more livelier and fresh compared to North West Tonight, though as good as NWT is, it has gone stale slightly, Gordon's voice isn't helping neither is that they're only one of two English regions that hasn't changed much or at all since 2000!

I see. Thanks for taking that comment in the sensible way I wrote it and not shouting abuse back. When I used to spend time in Manchester a few years ago the prgoramme was called Granada Tonight and I thought used to be much better with that bald guy who did it - sorry can't remember his name.
