Yeah it changed on Monday evening and IMO it looks worse, it's a 14:9 copy that looks like it has been taken off a VHS recording! The old sting was better, I don't know why they're phasing it out after a few months in some regions.

I'm a little confused over these weather stings that are used on the regional news programmes. We started in February with that nice, 3D animated one, but a few months later we (or at least, Meridian) started getting that horrid one that looks like it was made using the animation tools in PowerPoint. Why the change?

My only guess is that as the ITV News Channel uses it and that it does look more like the ITV News look, it even has 4 squares, though as nice as the old one is, it doesn't really match with the ITV News look. It was better in the old days when you saw your regional logo and then disappear in blind form and telling you at the end that your region's weather is sponsored by Legal and General.

Well, during periods when Meridian Weather had no sponsor, we had these lovely generic titles featuring a weather vane. There are screen grabs on The TV Room, but unfortunately no video.
