Monkey got a first glimpse of the eagerly anticipated new Sky One on-screen logo today, sitting proudly atop the press release heralding the channel's new "upmarket" autumn schedule (see below). Sky One bosses James Baker and Dawn Airey even got in former Wallpaper editor Tyler Brulé's agency Winkreative to apply their massive brains to the rebrand. And the result? Well... it'll look great when it's finished, guys.
I suppose it was a nice idea, but it really doesn't read "Sky One". More like Sky Onc or some weird made up alphabet. That really should have been one that didn't get past the first drafts...

Well, I imagine that as it was on a press release, it will be slightly more snazzy than that on TV, so glass probably will be used, Moz.
But what a mess.
I imagine what the designers have tried to do is trick the eye into thinking that the little line through the er... 'e'... is really a line right across it.
Evidentally, the brains of most humans are a little more advanced than that.
Of course, if it is designed to reflect Sky One's programming, well, they're both a load of crap aren't they. So it sits rather well.
First thing that popped into mind was the green circular light thing from the Sky+ boxes....and those odd adverts for Sky+.
Possible (but poor) attempt to forge a connection?
