This is Great News as here in Bridport we either have to share BBC Devon website (ok!).
Or BBC Southampton which I dont appreciate Dorset being associated with.

I really hope BBC Radio Wales is closed, and replaced with around 3 BBC local stations in Wales.

Radio Wales at the moment is so distant to anyone living outside of the M4 corridor.

Possible areas for BBC local radio stations in Wales:

BBC Radio Glamorgan (Cardiff, Newport, Valleys)

BBC Radio West Wales (Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion)

BBC Radio North Wales

Why do counties such as Berkshire and Devon get their own stations, and counties in Wales have to put up with a Cardiff-centric station which is full of BBC TV Wales presenters and journalists?

People in Wales do pay the full £121 a year too, y'know! We deserve a more localised BBC radio network in Wales.

And as if by magic, hiya Very Happy .

Let us only hope that the BBC's intention isn't to make the regions as regional as local radio, because in that case Scotland's getting sod all.

We can only hope that they see sense and, as part of their sooking up to the government, introduce regional broadcasting to Scotland as well.

I thought that Scotland was being classified as a seperate country, or is it just ITV who think that? Laughing

Anyway from another BBC press release:
Quote:
A new regional television region is to be created in Central England for Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.

The new BBC centre will be based in Milton Keynes and incorporate BBC Three Counties Radio, which will eventually transfer to the city from Luton.

-build Manchester as the largest broadcast centre out of London

Manchester Evening News' headline for this is BBC LOOKS NORTH

Oh, how I chuckled to see a TV pres or regional news fan working at the MEN.

Especially as we're one of the few areas north of the Midlands not to have a 'Look North' variant... Wink

Yes I saw that, accompanied by a very nice looking picture of the BBC Oxford Road studios!

I thought that the Manchester thing was going to be jeopardised due the plans going wrong for Granada's new studios, due to their main MD leaving, as the BBC share the studios with them. Though as it was Dyke's idea they seemed to have been carried on, as they did want to move either BBC2, CBBC/CBeebies or Radio Five Live to Manchester, so I'm guessing these plans are still alive.

Just think how bad it would be if NWT was still called Look North! Plus LNW didn't have a special something about it, so they're better off with NWT.

Though if they're creating 60 regions or whatever it is, I'd like to see a North West Tonight for Cheshire and Merseyside as a sub region, as that would be good, even if it was a feed on BBCi or something.

Oh that crackpot regularly sends me missives. You've got to wonder about people in this place.

Expecting ANOTHER note ... Can't wait.

This "60 new regions" thing seems to be slightly misunderstood...

You will still get your normal REGIONAL news at 6.30pm.

The 60 seperate LOCAL/city services will be for online and interactive TV services. AIUI there are no current plans to go "city" regional within regular news bulletins...

Oh that crackpot.

You seem to sum him/it up perfectly, Bruce.

He doesn't appear to have posted here since mid-May, but is obviously still reading.

I take it he's just too damn scared to reply in public, so has to just PM a load of trash.

A VERY SAD person.

Certainly not hate mail - just a very informative note about the history of Look North / Look North West / North West Tonight.

Well, my favourite message from him was from Metropol, which I rarely post on - by I did keep this message. I made an off-handed remark about using drugs ... and got:

Tis very sad that you have to resort to drugs in order to escape reality because you cannot cope.

Who's he to judge that? Hmmm.

Anyway ... back on topic.

I think we need to think of some names for this new MK region.

Perhaps they should name themselves something that ties in with their new football club ... BBC Look MK Dons?
