Having seen the captures on the TV Room it certainly looks like an ambitious relaunch. Ambition isn't everythling though, and I'm not entirely sure it was worth the effort (although admittedly I never really saw much of the old Points West set).
The desk looks ridiculous, it's far too small for two presenters to sit behind - their legs stick out the sides. And there really isn't space for two laptops - I can see a laptop leap for freedom coming right up! As for the sofa bit, they don't appear to have a table at all, and the laptops just perch on the sofa alongside the presenters - if there isn't anywhere to put them they shouldn't have laptops in the "soft" set! Maybe the presenters wanted to show off their legs or something but it isn't really appropriate for a news programme!
Those squares behind the presenters are too garish - red separated by bright white strips, it's just too much. It's so bright the presenters just seem to be eaten up by it, not helped by the woman's white outfit!
As for the music, it sounds quite good but I dread to think how inappropriate it'll be when they have a really major, terrible news story (although D-Day was bad enough).
Nice effort, but I'm not sure I like the results too much. Of the regional news relaunches I've seen, Spotlight's seems to be the best - simple, fresh, a deviation from the corporate theme but still subscribing strongly to it.
