The titles are good, and remind me a bit of the fantastic pre-corporate Spotlight ones. Although it's a shame this is the best shot of Swindon they could manage...!

It's the legacy David John Murray left on the town ...

Nice to know the Liquid News set is not going to waste!

Err - that isn't the Liquid News set.

Yes I know that... Was merely making like of the similarities.

I Think so far the best of the local news relaunches has been
Spotlight
very subtle, not to in yer face as some.
Midlands Today was a bit of a wasted oportunity as far as relaunches go, lets hope they do something about this when they move studios
If Points West tweak the music a bit they will benefit, its a bit to Richard and Judy!!!
But this is good more and more individuality is creeping back into BBC regional news, lets hope it stays that way, if not the music!!
not to forget Newsline who did a very good job too.

Having seen the captures on the TV Room it certainly looks like an ambitious relaunch. Ambition isn't everythling though, and I'm not entirely sure it was worth the effort (although admittedly I never really saw much of the old Points West set).

The desk looks ridiculous, it's far too small for two presenters to sit behind - their legs stick out the sides. And there really isn't space for two laptops - I can see a laptop leap for freedom coming right up! As for the sofa bit, they don't appear to have a table at all, and the laptops just perch on the sofa alongside the presenters - if there isn't anywhere to put them they shouldn't have laptops in the "soft" set! Maybe the presenters wanted to show off their legs or something but it isn't really appropriate for a news programme!

Those squares behind the presenters are too garish - red separated by bright white strips, it's just too much. It's so bright the presenters just seem to be eaten up by it, not helped by the woman's white outfit!

As for the music, it sounds quite good but I dread to think how inappropriate it'll be when they have a really major, terrible news story (although D-Day was bad enough).

Nice effort, but I'm not sure I like the results too much. Of the regional news relaunches I've seen, Spotlight's seems to be the best - simple, fresh, a deviation from the corporate theme but still subscribing strongly to it.

Ariel view of the Magic Roundabout would have been nice. They're high enough just to fit most of it in... Wink

i think the new look is great. the new music is excellent - it's something new from the boring bbc-stylie beats and stuff!
the studio looks very good, but that desk...well, not so nice. it's just a lit up box, there should be a proper desk! Smile

(now bbc london: change yours! it's crud Very Happy)

I must say, I'm not too sure on this new look. The set looks a bit empty ion my view, however it's better than the old set. I do like the new graphics, gives it a bit of a national feel.
