The new Doctor Who should be Dawn French.

Are you not thinking of that chap from 2.4 Children? Gary Olsen was in that. I didn't think Gary Oldman was dead. If I'm wrong then I am shocked. He wasn't very old. Gary Olsen died of cancer in 2001.

Your recollection is thankfully in error.

Gary Oldman is still very much alive and will be seen next in the new Harry Potter film, I believe.

Christopher Eccleston is one of the best British actors of his generation, and he can do camp, but I'm just wondering if he's maybe a little too serious for the doctor...?

Well my fav doctor who was of course Jon Pertwee, he was the best because he was best suited for the doctor. And I hope they bring back all of the doctor's enermies!.

Yes, but ever since William Hartnell left in 1966 there's always been a ton of unconfirmed rumours. If it does turn out to be this Eccerson guy, I'll eat my imaginary hat.
