Well lets just hope nothing goes wrong then - otherwise many will experience TV like it was in the 60's and 70's - with only 3 channels!

Up until 1982 for the majority, actually!

I still remember the days before Channel 4 - and the IBA testcard on before the days of TVam Smile

Mind you, at the same time my (estranged) father had got cable TV in Swindon - the first place you could get the Sky Channel without a whacking great dish.

Ah the good old days.

1985 if you lived in Surrey! The roll-out of Channel 4 was slower than that of Channel 5, but at least everyone got it in the end!

I think it's tonight, Thursday referring to the TV day running 6am-6am

Well as the network is capable of broadcasting different feeds on analogue and digital on digital they could opt out just before the caption appears on analouge and have a normal announcement and ident into News 24, or they could both show the caption (just to inform viewers on both platforms) and then BBC1 analogue would fade out and cut to TCJ and BBC1 digital would just fade out and go directly to News 24.

I think this year they may attempt to split the feeds during the announcement.

Well BBC2 has just closed down with a namecheck from Becky Wright (anno) and straight cut to Test Card W & Tone... I presume it will switch to TCJ in a bit or maybe later when BBC1 shuts down so they will do the tests at the same time.

They have to be at the same time, given that they're unplugging transmitters.

That was a nasty crash into tcw from the announcement tho. And it's in 14:9 on analogue, which makes no sense, as the gratings are all wrong. I can also hear some clicks on the audio under the tone, that arn't normally there, but wouldn't be anything to do with the test just yet, as it hasn't really started.

Whoops there we go from the beautiful widescreen testcard (come on I'm milking it for what it's worth!) to the 4:3 Testcard J. We also have teletext for the London region as well.
