Clive is a very solid choice and should do well in the role.

I like Clive Myrie. I think he does have the right mixture of wit and intelligence for the role. I think he’ll do a great job.

He's branching out. Also about to present a documentary series on Jazz FM

At first I thought you meant a series about Jazz FM, and had the thought we'd hear Clive talking about the NSFW mixing desk incident.

Good to see Clive going places. He's come so far from doing the late evening shift at weekends on the News Channel just 10/11 years ago.

That’s a good choice and by no means an obvious/safe one.

Oddly enough, I did have Clive Myrie as a wildcard replacement but I honestly thought the BBC would go for a female presenter for Mastermind.

While I think Paxman will still be doing UC for some time yet, I wonder if they have anyone in mind as a successor.

Brilliant choice same style and gravity as both John and Magnus, Clive is very easy to watch when he’s on BBC News he will do well filling the chair

Clive mentioned in an interview earlier with Simon McCoy that doing 'The Papers' in the evening kind of got him noticed as having a more relaxed, laid back edge to his personality. He's also been a panellist on Would I Lie To You? in the past.

He was quite good on House of Games as well. I wonder if a lot of people who work in news want to break away from their image of being dour and serious. Peston did All Star Musicals the other day which was way out of his comfort zone but it was good to see him in a different light although he wasn't great TBH,

A good choice, though I can't help but think that they're ticking a diversity checkbox. I would hope he was picked for his abilities and persona and not just because he happens to be a person of colour.

Absolutely the right choice.

It wouldn’t matter as you’re going to be questioning it regardless.

First and foremost he got the job because someone thinks he’s going to be good at it and bring what’s required to the role. The fact that he represents a traditionally underrepresented group, might have been part of the reasoning he was chosen. But that’s fine because corporation has a duty to reflect the diversity of its audience across its output.
