It would help if the two lines of text were a bit lower, so that they were vertically centred.
The length of the word "Naidheachdan" makes in less than ideal to include in the perfectly square box, as it has to be at a small font size. Ironically, it would've fitted better in the previous 4:3(ish?) shaped box which only contained a BBC logo.
I guess the thinking is that everything should be in the standard square "app" BBC News logo style now.
I agree. It feels like a mock. Much like the previous Look Hull titles did.
The ‘BBC Naidheachdan’ box doesn’t really work does it.

Can someone tell me who's currently in charge of doing the title sequences?
The animation's a downgrade for me.

Agree with most of the comments above, this could have done with an extra couple of rounds of refinements.
The animations are essentially 2D, which spoils the globe illusion, and if they want to include "Naidheachdan" in the box, at least align it better.
I'd have liked to have seen the title given much more prominence too, especially as it's such a short name. Something closer to the English regional news titles' endcap.

I'd say the main problem is even if I don't see it. Is with it being tied into the styles of BBC Arabic / BBC Persia as the non-english speaking portions of the BBC News operation. I'd say TBH that Newyddion kind of got lucky by separating from the pack, then again, it is on S4C.
Additional Comments
First, I'd say to the steveboswell 's thing of the animations being 2D. From looking at it in detail and going frame by frame. It seems to me they've gone from whatever it was before to something that is a blurry sphere, to top it off they have removed any of the "lights" / "data" dots from it too much, reducing the "reflective" qualities of this sphere. And finnaly with this point they have bleached or turned up the hues too much on the sphere, so that "natural" look is gone.
Secondly, I'd say the main problem for me is in the cats cradle and the location placements being all over the shop. Please center them on the dead center of the sphere for the effect to take place.

Also the last hold before the "bam-bam-bam" at the end seems to be out of sync with the image.
