Well however they did it they got it right. 11,000 votes is a decent sample size and easy enough to predict some dance offs based on the original scores, but no doubt they have a mole to back it up. A fairly decent overall standard makes predictions somewhat more difficult this year.
Not seen last nights results but the week before Bruno felt like a spare part that should be dropped for future results shows, so a case of just because he can contribute remotely doesn't mean he should.
I'm glad they added a reprise of the music to the slowed down recap after each dance. The extended applause used for the first week felt really flat and lacked any energy whatsoever, so this is a big improvement.
The only thing that still jars is Claudia's contestant conveyor on the results shows. Something akin to Tom Allen's audience bit on Bake Off Extra Slice would probably work much better using the contestants' seating area but maybe they need the floor area for something else during this time (even though it's all recorded anyway)?
Just been announced that Nick Hewer is temporarily stepping down from Countdown during lockdown. Colin Murray will fill in.
Good luck to Colin Murray, popular dictionary corner guest and Countdown fanatic, who takes over from me as host today and for the rest of Covid Lockdown recordings (although I’ll still be on your screens for a week or two) as this 76 year old shields at home - in spite of......

Hope all is ok with Nick, but I guess it is totally for the best. I welcome Colin as a guest host to the programme, he’s usually enthusiastic and is one of the better Dictionary Corner guests.
The 2/2 tweet does say that through the co-vid protocols that ITV Studios and Dock 10 have in place, he'd was fine in continuing to host the show during Lockdown 2.0, but his family 'chained him to the radiator' to stop him! So, I guess all is well with Nick, and he'll be back hosting again in early January.
That amazes me that Richard was only 38 when Countdown launched on C4!
If you include Cats does Countdown, I guess Katherine Ryan's appearance as guest host (for the Women's Suffrage Commemoration special in 2018) probably takes it, she was 35.
