They haven’t got a choice really considering it’s being produced by Sony.
I’m pretty sure one of the ABC/Disney companies produces the show under licence. Sony don’t seem so strict on everything being the same hence Hotseat, clock versions and the Super Mix format. I think the decision to go back to following UK look so religiously is probably down to the producer Michael Davies who had success doing this 20 years ago.
It was DisneyABC Domestic and Valleycrest for the syndicated version and the previous earlier Regis revivals I think.
Yes, Valleycrest is part of Disney anyway. Looking at Wikipedia it only mentions Sony companies as producers of this version. Even then it doesn’t stop Sony making changes for the US market if they wanted to, but they obviously think the current look is strong enough.
