Noticed that Cambridge even had a camera op on the bulletin yesterday - combined with the animated graphics and better quality cameras (don't Norwich have some ancient beasts?) the technical quality of the bulletins from Cambridge is always so much higher than from Norwich, which is fairly unique for a sub-opt!

Indeed Cambridge were fortunate to end up moving - though they had spend years in very poor facilities that at one point probably was a broom cupboard.

The first Look East Close Up TV studio at BBC Hills Road in Cambridge was the local radio centre cubicle studio, and very compact (and used for local radio duties during the day). It was really only suitable for a single presenter and the wide shots wasn't very wide... It was used for studio interviews during the Election 97 Breakfast bulletins where Cambridge and Norwich split fully (only 5 months after Cambridge had launched)

This was a relatively short term solution until the former radio newsroom on the site had been converted into a larger studio space. (The people who used to work in the radio newsroom had moved into a solicitors building next door as the newsroom expanded to include a bigger bimedia operation)

Though it's not a sub-opt any more is it?

It is, there's a full bulletin at 1828 and 2225, the rest of the time comes from Norwich normally.

It will be interesting to see Breakfast bulletins come from Cambridge.

Breakfast bulletins from Norwich as normal today.

Depends on your definition of a sub-opt.

It's fully split at 1830 - so doesn't opt-out of an opt-out (some people's definition of a sub-opt) All the bulletins from Cambridge are full-opts, not sub-opts.

However it's not fully split at Breakfast, Lunchtime or Weekends - so some people would still describe that as a sub-opt, though I think it's better to describe it as a sub-region or not a full region. Personally I prefer that kind of description as technically there are no (editorial) sub-opts in the Cambridge output now AFAIK (unless they do split packages at lunchtime)

Just wanted to point out that there have been 5 or even more variations of the Look East titles that have been output since October of this year. Down below i've included links to the different titles along with the titles that were used before any of these changes happened.

Here is the titles which were used in the Lunchtime and Evening Bulletins around July and August this year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-ZUFSWlaOk&feature=youtu.be

1. This is the short titles which was used on the 23rd or 24th of December on the evening bulletin. Notice the transition used to display "Look East" and the online contacts, very slow and out of sync and no time to display all of it before switching to camera, also the loss of the BBC News Logo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09FuwvpoVkE&feature=youtu.be

2. A totally different and somewhat weird change to the evening titles here. Two changes occur, the last 2 sections of the graphics in the titles are completely abandoned and go to display Look East with all the online contacts. And also a extra beat has been inserted (dont know why?).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itbg8OCkZd0&feature=youtu.be

3. Even more weirder then before, same extra beat but all the graphics are shown this time but the last one is displayed for around 0.5 seconds, then displays the ending of the text transition, twitter handle in time with the extra beat i may add.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rcn1yFyogYA&feature=youtu.be

4. This is pretty similar to the normal lunchtime titles, however the graphics are cut down just a tiny bit compared to the one seen in the first link above.

5. This is the CURRENT evening titles being used, and in my opinion the best of the lot (Still some minor issues). Yet again the last 2 sections of the graphics are gone. But the hard beat occurs after the plane shot and the transition of text pops up on screen (In time with the tune).

This is a screenshot showing the text of areas within the region cut out and not moving, basically only moving on the right half of the screen.

For some strange reason the evening version of the end slide of The Forum in Norwich keeps getting played at lunchtime rather than the daytime version.

Amanda Goodman on duty from Norwich this evening.

The ones where the graphics don't move on the left side appear to be from when they changed the Facebook page from BBC Look East to BBC News East of England, and they've done a fairly dodgy job at covering up the old URL, rather than re-rendering etc. Noticed on one of the bulletins from Cambridge over Christmas they also used titles which still had the old (and no longer working) facebook.com/bbclookeast URL!

I've just looked at the late news from yesterday and it did display the older version with that old link. This variation of late news intro (and yes i forgot to add this to the list as well Shocked ) only appears on the Friday bulletin.

Is there any particular standards the regions are instructed to follow? It all seems so much of a mish mash!
