Massive news this morning - the eir/BT arrangement is to come to an end, with BT instead agreeing an exclusive wholesale agreement with Sky in Ireland:
This is absolutely terrible for Pro14 considering the Irish provinces focus so heavily on Europe. This deal is looking more and more shortsighted by the day.
Pretty big. Aside from Pro 14 rugby and the GAA league (which pales in comparison to the summer championships on RTÉ and Sky)they don't have a lot coming into 2019. They do have occasional tournaments like Wimbledon and the Rugby World Cup but nothing really to bring Sports fans back week after week. I think they could be gone by the summer of 2020
Well, the issue isn’t so much the hole in the Eir Sport schedule. But from their point of view, it’s almost an exact repeat of what happened when Setanta GB went under. Suddenly their package has, once again, gone from seven channels down to two.
Effectively they’re now asking customers to pay €30 for the Pro14, a few weeks of spring GAA League coverage, and some League of Ireland games. They also have access to all of Premier Sports non-GAA rights, of course, but let’s just say the NHL is a hard sell in a country with no ice rinks.
But there is a glimmer of hope for them in the shape of the FAPL 3pm kick offs and the midweek/bank holiday rounds that Premier Sports have acquired for Ireland. They need to tie these up. I won’t be surprised if such a deal ends with eir Sport being sold back to Setanta/Premier.
ATP Tour Finals:
BBC are showing the night session on the first day (11th November), on BBC Four. Normally they show all the day sessions on BBC Two with Sky having exclusivity on the night sessions (except the final).
Possible they have done a deal with Sky to show the night session instead so it doesn't clash with other live programmes on the 11th including Remembrance Day events and rugby league. In turn Sky are showing that night session on Sky Sports Mix instead of Arena (although this might just be a coincidence for a scheduling compromise as they have NBA and NFL on Arena and Action).
Oh my god. The score bug on the Scotland v Wales Rugby League game being streamed live on BBC Online at the moment is HIDEOUS and HUGE. So unneccesary.

Since posts like this are pointless without a screengrab, I've gone and got one.

The BT YouView box serial 'number' security code that usually appears every 20-25 mins on Sky Sports content popped up on BTS 4K this lunchtime for the first time that I've seen. Not sure whether it was intentional or whether it'll become a feature from now on.
