I guess the other point is that introducing a football show with a stylised racecourse doesn't really work!
I honestly thought they might have resurrected Grandstand after the 2012 Olympics, to cover those minority sports that had caught people's imaginations during the Games. The Sports News studio at Salford would be perfect, it has a lot of similarity with old Grandstand sets.
Whereas I though the Grandstand name should have been retired after the London 2012 Olympics.
'London Olympic Grandstand' would have been a great way to send the name off into retirement, at the biggest multisport event possible.
As for the 60 year recreation. Does prove with animation and modern editing of opening titles, just how dull a set of action and amusing clips interlaced with show title graphics are now for a sports opening title sequence.
However, many points awarded for actually spending time in putting it together, the picture cuts on the beat of the theme tune, faithful recreation of the grandstand, track, and err, grandstand, and including the traditional footage of a goal being scored against Southampton.
But, points off, for the 'picture erode graphic' - it was a more dynamic 'shatter' than a simple diamond sissor cut and also using the same footage of the fat Saints fan 'throwing some shapes' fairly quickly in succession.
