The full show is on itv player if you want to catch up.

Watching back on ITV Player, Richard Gaisford was on College Green as he'd done an earlier live. His team legged it round the corner and immediately went live after hearing a loud bang and caught the man being arrested. He was then pushed back by Police back round to College Green.

It was just a case of GMB being in the right place at the wrong time.

The shots of the man being arrested now appear to have been pooled as BBC News are showing the same pictures, but didn't credit ITV/GMB.

Worth noting the BBC caught the whole incident unfold from the start via their locked off Westminster eye camera. Bit grainy as its been zoomed in. BBC were using Sky's pooled pictures for ages as it took them an unbelievably long time to reframe their remote camera on top of Millbank. The camera being repositioned was accidently shown on the VD show out of the 10am TOTH on the screens behind her.

Andrew Neil on twitter saying that the Genoa tragedy should be the main story on the news channels now - personal is now being sent to Genoa.

I agree with that. France 2's 13H bulletin bumped Genoa up the running order with the London incident afterwards.

It does sound like Breakfast can't react to live breaking incidents (compared to a Story such as high profile death) during it's airtime very well at least during the summer.

Breakfast are being really useless. They're a news breakfast show, they should be doing live coverage of the story, not the sports and weather

I don't particularly like these comments, referring to broadcasters as being "useless". It's not like they're sitting on their arses. There are obvious reasons too why the Beeb might sometimes be slower than other organisations, because they require further checks to make sure what they're reporting is true.

Also, there's no need for constant speculation about what might have happened. They broke the news, but with no other information, what else is there to say? The potential for offence there is very great, so while they try and establish more facts, why not go to the weather instead? It's not a race.

I'm not sure I like the idea of leaping up just a few minutes after a story breaks to announce the Beeb are being "useless as per usual". Breakfast did a fantastic job with the Manchester attacks last year and you don't get anywhere near working on a news programme unless you have dedication and high standards. It strikes me as incredibly disrespectful.

Channel 5's Wright Stuff seemed to have the right idea (and probably down to lack of resources) where they skimmed across the story a couple of times by showing ITN copy of taped streets and then went back to the normal format where they discussed middle class fly tippers, the pensioner complaining about too many Spaniards in a Spanish hotel and spying on your own kids.

While I agree with you Steve and think some could've worded it better, BBC were much quicker in reporting a similar incident in Westminster last year. Of course every incident is different though.

And just because ITV and Sky are reporting it on quicker, it doesn't necessarily mean they're speculating or being inaccurate (which I know you weren't suggesting) - all the main broadcasters work to a high standard. It did just seem BBC were a fair bit slower on this story which was surprising.

And there has occassions where BBC don't seem to be able to react to breaking news as well as you'd hope - when David Davis resigned rather than staying with UK coverage, BBC instead went to World coverage which was dominated by the Thailand cave story which of course was of more interest to World viewers but meant UK news viewers wouldn't have known about David Davis.

Just catching up on GMB on the Hub, they were able to get footage on air just four minutes after the incident happened. Richard Gaisford was a very short walk from the scene (covering the Corbyn story), so was able to get to the scene very quickly. Ranvir clearly took the lead, with Adil Ray offering a few comments. As others have said, you could hear Ranvir whispering advice to Adil at 7:50ish.

I’m sure if Breakfast had a reporter who happened to be at the scene, the coverage would have been equally good.

I would also like to note, when they first cut to the live images, Ranvir was quick to say that it could have just been an accident, and reiterated that a few minutes later.

Sky News and GMB coverage of the incident:

How were the Richard Gaisford live pictures from the scene linked back to the GMB gallery? From what I could tell the camera wasn't patched into the black boxes on college green via a cable, nor was there a satellite truck nearby.

Looks like Today used some of that BBC footage. It was clearly come from a roof.

Edit: The roof top foootage on CBS This Morning with the BBC logo was much different.
