I was going too make a video of the Capital Gazette yesterday that happened locally. Well you can see MSNBC, local WBAL simulcast, and NBC special reports in one video.

Telemundo is in rolling coverage of the Mexico presidential election. Jose Diaz-Balart is back in their new studio while weekend anchor Julio Vacquero is in Mexico City. Here’s a live stream of their broadcast..

Here’s where NBC News anchored their special reports and broadcasts today. It looks like they nestled into a corner of where the steps/entrance pillars of the National Gallery protrude from the building and the building itself.

I vaguely remember explaining how Today handles special reports to some people on here. Well there are several this week and I made a video of the two types of reports they do.

Was over in the US last week and watching Today, I noticed that on several shots they now have a virtual view of the outside on the screen between Savannah and Hoda: so on the long shot it looks like a continuous view from the left window to the right. Didn't manage to get a screen grab but it looked pretty good

It’s not perfect but it’s an improvement. Before they occasionally used an overhead camera. Now it appears street level. So makes me wonder if it’s a camera they put out for the show or worked out behind the LED screen.

So I think this is a first MSNBC aired an episode of 4 Corners from ABC (Australia) on the Thailand Cave Rescue. Dubbed an MSNBC Special Presentation - Out of the Dark Thai Cave Rescue. It appears aside from burnt in captions they inserted stylized smaller (not their normal) astons that are about the size of their regular logo during the day side.

They mostly had interviews from the US team. It was narrated by an Australian Mark Willacy - so it’s unlike other docs NBC has purchased and aired as their own (recently NBC aired an ITN Royal Wedding special where they replaced the hosts and narrator with their own).

Normally NBC partners up with Network Seven.

The proposed merger between Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tribune Media has officially been terminated by Tribune. Tribune announced the move Thursday (9 August) in a call to shareholders and also added they will be suing Sinclair for breach of contract. The Sinclair-Tribune deal was under investigation from the FCC and FCC Chairman Ajit Pai raised “serious concerns” about the deal, which originally would have reached roughly 70 percent of U.S. households. The FCC said it would send the deal for review by an administrative law judge, which is often interpreted as a signal a transaction may be blocked. (WaPo)
Tribune CEO Peter Kern released this statement “In light of the FCC’s unanimous decision, referring the issue of Sinclair’s conduct for a hearing before an administrative law judge, our merger cannot be completed within an acceptable time frame, if ever.. This uncertainty and delay would be detrimental to our company and our shareholders. Accordingly, we have exercised our right to terminate the Merger Agreement, and, by way of our lawsuit, intend to hold Sinclair accountable. ”
Here is how Tribune's WGN Chicago reported the news

Apparently NBC is planning to launch a streaming news channel that is similar to CBSN. Not sure what it will consist of and how that works with MSNBC but its quite interesting. And apparently FoxNews is creating a FOX NATION streaming channel that is going to be a paid channel (who'd paid for that?) for "fans" of the channel. Seems like additional channel to push more conspiracy theories that their viewers enjoy. EHH.

This is a bit puzzling. MSNBC previously had a streaming channel doing a regular broadcast day schedule called shift (previously msnbc2) in 2014 that ran through about 2017.
